the ideas are out there...people sharing the ideas are out there...i even dare to say that the ideas...we all carry within us...like an intrinsic gene that has been within us throughout evolution...all we need to do is to tap into it, to wake it, to dare to face it, listen to it, act upon it...

they have been always there...we know of their existence yet we allow those screaming louder, those pushing us into the opposite direction to take control...of our lives, communities, surroundings, environment...the universe.

why is it so hard to follow the knowledge we all keep inside us, our gut feelings. why do we refrain from listening to them and instead follow the logical, the rational that is not even us...

i get annoyed with the scaremongers, the shallowness, the apathy, the competition, the them vs us, the you vs me, the nay-sayers, those who will always turn round and dismiss a new/old/good idea...the real ideas...as being idealistic...

sure, we will not be able to change the world, our societies, our communities, us within a second - it will be hard work. but all the talks, all the discussions about it - on how to go about, what to do, what needs to be done first, prioritising one over the other - it's not a start, it's rather like being in a stalemate

i too, too often, am in a state of a limbo...on one hand hoping that things will develop all by themselves into the direction i want them to if i only myself behave and act in the way i envision all and everyone to act and behave - hoping on the universal law of attraction i.e. the good, the new, the right path tread will be walked on by the rest if only one starts walking...

on the other hand, getting restless and realising that without REAL action nothing will come about. we are all stuck in the mud (i'm the first to raise my hand) and getting up, doing something about it (whatever it may be) is not the easiest things to do...as ...coming back to those influencing...the nay-sayers, the scaremongers, those who do not see (or want to see) the idealism...will always be the first to kill any real action from the outset.

i strongly believe that we can...actually...i must say that we all NEED to be idealists...especially nowadays...we need to listen to what we know and feel within ourselves to be right (forget MSM, dogmas, old-and-now-realised-wrong views of the world be it in science, religion or what have you)...listen to what you KNOW..and what your gut tells you. and then we need to start acting upon it.

individually and collectively

forget any other ideas that try to pull you into any other direction, that you know are not right...it is so easy to go along with something if you rationalise it i.e. "i'll do this or that as it will help me to get to where i want to be in the end"...why use something, why do something that does not sit right...why believe that with this you will be able to get to the point where it all will work out in the end...do you really believe this? selling your soul will make it possible for you to achieve your desired contentment? i don't think so...

i kept telling everyone - from an early age - when they asked me what to i wanted to achieve..."i want to be content"...i never knew what it meant really, i never thought what it could mean...it might well be that the notion changes again for me...sometime in the future...but to be content for me at the moment is to listen to what i know within me...and act upon it...and hope that more are willing to join in and do the same...

=)

Thank you for this post. Lately I've felt like there is SO much to get done that I didn't know where to begin, so I made a list...and things are getting done, not only in my personal life, but in the world around me, where I also want to make a difference.

i like lists too..

...just writing down all and everything that feels needs to be done...not in any order but just to have it down on paper...feels overwhelming at times does it not? but also kinda induces more "action" - at least for me :)

thanks for your reminder on lists - often too quickly discarded they are a pretty handy tool to get moving...

very true

It can be overwhelming, but just like you said it pushes you even more =)

what it comes down to

Is fear and a lack of Faith in ourselves...I agree it really is and always been the ripest time to make way for 'idealism' or 'the better world our hearts know is possible'...Either way I think if we just sit around in sedation we will be eventually forced to act and the burning process will just be much uglier, violent and enunexpected

...

you might just be right although i hope we don't all wait until we will be forced...

what an important truth

"but to be content for me at the moment is to listen to what i know within me...and act upon it..."
-Reading this line really reminded me of the fact that we often fall prey to the idea that happiness and self-contentment are goals to be strived for, rather than states to be lived in.

Many people are afraid of a challenge, afraid to get their hands dirty, and you said it perfectly when you stated that acting upon what is inside you is what really makes you content.

contentment isn't sitting on the couch all day with no priorities or commitments, its acting on what one's awareness calls for, and it can bring a life of happiness, regardless of external circumstances, income, or any other superficial factors.

thanks for reminding us of this!

“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” -Albert Einstein

so did i

...always believed they were things to be strived for...it takes a while to realise that you will never reach that point if you are only looking for it into a future state of being/mind but realise the here and now...

sometimes we still struggle now though...i do...forget that all we need to be content is what is within me...but i try to 'remind' myself of it more often :)

black & white

thanks for your comments Sam - bringing up good point although I kinda struggle with the notion of gut-feeling the way you point it out...

go with the gut-feeling for me is to really listen to what you KNOW inside without it being influenced by the system, society, common beliefs, or what have you. I think your GW Bush example needs to be thought of with a bit of caution as well - sometimes a "gut-feeling" is used to spin an action/idea - as we all actually kinda think that "gut-feeling" is something right, not?

I also had to think about the flight example - and yes, I can relate to this - but how about asking yourself what influenced your intuition? The fact that planes have crashed before, the fact that flying a big huge metal monster seems somehow difficult to comprehend...nevertheless, why not have faith? i.e. not focus on the negative (in that respect dying)? just a thought...and not sure whether intuition here is the same as gut feeling I have in mind...

The guilt example is a good one - as yes, we all kinda judge and categorise people - make sense of them, and at times have "good" feelings, at others feel a bit uneasy about someone. Nowadays I find it to be more and more difficult to really "understand" and make sense of another person - we are so influenced by images/views/prejudices etc even if we do not want to be and tell ourselves we are open minded but the system has done a great job to establish categories and push us to look and react to people that way. And what happned to the notion "innocent until proven guilty"?

but I do agree with you - only gut-feeling or only logical approaches might not be the way at all - there is no such thing as black or white...life et al only comes in many many shades of grey...whatever shade you find to fit your vision is yours to have only...and yet, with this it all becomes interestingly individual and understandable not?
