The Future of Cannabis

I just came from a lecture. There were three speakers from NORML, you know? The national organization for reforming marijuana laws.. I have work to do so I will be brief.

The gist is, you know, that typical stoner rambling of the benefits of cannabis production. But there's a lot of truth in all of those things, these men have spent their lives researching, educating, and are helping to change the laws.

They believe cannabis is the future. They're activists.

Terence Mckenna talked about marijuana legalization, he said that cultures are formed by the drugs they allow. He goes on to say of course this society will allow for the coffee break that promotes getting back on the industrial conveyer belt to fuel capitalism, but not the marijuana break that promotes free thinking and introspection. I think that is interesting for this conversation, of what will occur when the laws are back to the way they were before. The society would change.

These men, these activists, were on a college campus speaking to the students. One of them said "Go out! Have a party! When your friends arrive, have them first register to vote, second send an e-mail to their legislators, senators, and the like. Then you can educate yourselves on all of the information out there on cannabis, I'll even pay for the keg!!"

I really admired that. He went on to talk about how some of his friends in this more conservative state where the talk was being given, didn't think their vote mattered. He said "Look at the other 15 states where the laws did change, we can do this!"

Cannabis... It makes you think.
