So I woke up this morning and started thinking about Cannabis. What does it mean to me? I feel inspired to try to write a little about the history of cannabis in America, and where I feel it is likely going. I got on reality Sandwich and Evolver and instantly noticed a couple of interesting articles. one talks about how we might have actually Evolved along side Cannabis for over 10,000 years! The other talked about How Henry Ford designed a HEMP car, that could run off of HEMP (or any plant matter) based ethanol fuel.

I think Marijuana really does need to be legalized. I know that's not the first time anyone's heard that line, but do you know why it was de legalized in the first place? A lot of people think it was just because it's bad, and it causes Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, depression, makes you a different person, makes you stupid, etc. On the contrary in my opinion 90% of the population now knows that none of this is true, and that Cannabis is in fact one of the most amazing plants. It is less addictive then Caffeine, it's held as the representation of the tree of Life in the Bible. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew both. HEMP is also one of the most useful and profitable crops in the World. So why then is the Cannabis plant and her cousin banned in most of the world?

The answer is simple. Money. when our country was still very young, many, many people grew Not only HEMP, but Cannabis alike. HEMP was used in clothing, rope, paper, etc. At the same time, such industries as the Nylon, Cotton and Paper ( from trees) were attempting to emerge. But they were virtually unable to progress because the HEMP industry was so solid. (HEMP has been used in civilizations for thousands of years, dating back to pre- China.) So after lobbying and propaganda engineered by these corporations, Cannabis was banned. Along with it HEMP was banned as well, despite it being virtually non-smokeable.

Since then, Cannabis and HEMP have been banned and massive propaganda and disinformation Such as biased Scientific studies, campaigns on Television and common enemy rationalization. Of course here in 2010, quite literally, ALL of these inaccurate studies and commercials have been debunked and public awareness has been elevated passed the point of being controlled by fake science and scare tactics. New, useful information regarding the safe, and even health beneficial effects of Cannabis, have been uncovered in recent years. Laws in States such as Colorado and California have legalized the use of Medical licenses, and growing licenses. Colorado has actually legalized possession of up to an Ounce in Denver and Breckenridge among a couple of other cities. California is even about to pass complete legalization with a new proposition statute.
It seems the suppression of Weed, and the war on drugs has completely failed.

There however lives a sort of modern day frontier, that i don't think most people recognize. In the days of alcohol prohibition, you had runners, who smuggled alcohol in, out and around the US. I honestly think in a sense we now have the same thing going on. Though Marijuana is illegal, it is ten times easier to obtain then alcohol is. You have a subculture of making profit off of the illegal sale of Cannabis. It's like a last Original Gangster of Weed haha. In fact, Marijuana may have never come so far as it has to legalization, without people relentlessly dispersing this illegal substance to people throughout the years. As well as Independent Science and Information sources projecting real information about Cannabis to the public.

It just goes to show, if you want something done. Do it yourself. Direct action is the only way to change anything. The government may attempt to punish whistle blowers and Direct Action-ists, but Autonomy in America is risky business. It also goes to show that we really need to stop letting ourselves be influenced by Private Corporations and collect our own information to formulate opinions and conclusions. I'm not exactly sure how i feel like concluding this, so...... Conclusion!!!!
