Benefits of a William and Mary education
I *went* to William and Mary!
Dennis,
Thanks for posting this! I went to W&M, and one of the main tourist attractions of the campus is the Brafferton building, where Native students who did opt for an English education lived. When you look into the real history behind the whitewashed stuff they feed the public, you find that many of the students were miserable and felt repressed by the way of life they entered. One student would famously sneak out of the building at night and go running; his spirit is said to haunt the campus to this day. Many of the students died from exposure to diseases and so forth. The Indian school didn't last long, and there was some sort of violent incident whose details I can't rightly remember. Fascinating historical moment, though.
You didn't by chance benefit from a W&M education too, did you?
