The Horror of Holiday

they held hammers
with a purpose to destroy
to pulverize the others
who stood in their way
nothing was left
when the hammer met the face
there was just this negative space
and around the negative space
was blood
gallons of blood
and pieces of bone
the whole mess
had this rather Picasso
or Pollock inspired outcome
contours were distorted
above splattered life
but this shocked no one
in fact I heard applause
they embraced the madness
like some Carnivorous Christmas Celebration
or a Sacrificial St. Patrick's Day Orgy
