Cancun, Mexico is the site of an international climate meeting that started Monday. Those familiar with such summits express little hope for the Cancun climate summit. Virtually no one believes that a climate change treaty with any substance will result. The failure of the United Nations to attain any progress on climate change has resulted in a loss of confidence among participating nations the agency can continue to be efficient on the issue.

climate change not going further yet

The Cancun climate summit could determine what the world will do about climate change in the future. If the outcomes of last December's Copenhagen climate summit are any indication, procrastination will be the consensus. The Copenhagen Accord was a last-minute non-deal that avoided the problem of carbon emission reductions. climate change plans have to be shared by both creating and developed countries with the Copenhagen Accord which means absolutely nothing really has to be done. There were no plans for emissions reductions discussed.

Blaming rather than fixing

Analysts are pretty confident that there will not be a climate change treaty made at the Cancun climate summit. The U.S. blames China for scuttling a real package at Copenhagen. Of course China says otherwise. According to them, the Unites States is to blame. The carbon emissions crisis came from somewhere else if you ask developing nations. They say developed countries have to solve it as it came from years of industrialization. A compromise is the hope of developed countries. The undeveloped and developed countries don’t have much faith in the United Nations. It likely will not be there to help.

China fixing things while United States plays

Despite the failed Copenhagen Accord, China has been aggressively investing in clean energy. China is now the world's largest manufacturer of solar panels and wind turbines. The country is also poised to become the world leader in clean coal technology and efficient nuclear reactors. The U.S. will not be able to do anything with the Cancun climate summit considering the Republican House changes entirely in 2011 while the United States of America U.S. senate stopped the carbon market to curb emissions.
