1/1/12 The Dream

I flew between the skyscrapers of a city, wondering how I had even gotten there. As I flew, I began to realize that I had no control of where I flew. I was on-rails, stuck on some sort of planned linear path. It was if someone was wanting to show me something. Realizing I had no control, I gave up on trying to fly anywhere else. I began to just focus on what was going on around me. I began to watch the windows of the nearby buildings.

Inside, I could see people working, facing their computer monitors. Then it became whole families glued to their television sets, and then it became people texting, staring at their phone screens.

Then I felt this weight tug at my back, and then I was suddenly flying upwards and out of our planet's atmosphere into the very depths of space. I flew for what felt like centuries, and then suddenly I came to a halt. I was staring at this great expanse of stars.

The middle of the black emptiness opened to reveal an eye. I tried to speak or yell out at it, but no matter how hard I tried, my mouth was somehow unable to form words. The eye stared at me for what felt like a very long time. Finally it spoke, saying,

"You're not like them. Don't worry. There's not much time left now."
