Female Warrior's recent thought-provoking post about The Predator got me to thinking about this essential question: is the universe and everything in it interconnected and interdependent, working together as a whole, is it all ONE, or are there forces that exist outside of oneness operating independently with nefarious interests at heart? Or to put it another way, does evil exist as a separate force that runs counter to the best interests of the whole?
I've been reading Jung's Memories, Dreams and Reflections recently so the topics of unconsciousness and the collective unconscious have been forefront in my mind. When I read The Predator post, this question arose: might the predator be the collective unconscious, all the things that bother/torment us on some level, particularly the things we fear, that we push out of our consciousness, but continue to exist psychically (inorganic beings?) and feed on our energy every time we have a negative or fearful thought or emotion?
We are each guardians of our own consciousness and responsible for the contents of what we allow to exist within ourselves. That's what being an impeccable warrior is all about, constantly being aware of and responsible for our thoughts, words and actions, weeding out the self-negating programs that are running inside of us, and choosing what we are going to feed and support: love or fear.
Love is wholeness and union, the natural radiance and activity of the Living Presence, which is embodied in every life form. When we consciously choose and support love and wholeness in our thoughts, words and actions, we strengthen and increase this Presence in the manifested world.
Evil is not an independent force that exists outside of us, preying on us interminably, getting fat on our weakness and helplessness. Evil is lack of love, lack of conscious choosing. Evil is allowing any old pile of psychic shit to exist unchallenged inside of us. Evil is allowing fear to fragment and separate us. The only power evil has is unconsciousness, the unexamined, negating psychic energy that we unwittingly allow to dwell in us by default. We can transform our interiors (and consequently, the manifested world) by paying attention and consciously choosing to be loving beings, loving the totality, loving the unlovable, loving everything back into wholeness. Love is THE transformative power.
Everything that exists is sustained by feeding on some form of energy. Our work at this point is to pay very close attention to what we are giving our energy to: are we supporting and nurturing love and wholeness or are we feeding fear, hate and separation? Most likely it's a combination of the two, because no matter how loving we aim to be, we are existing in a psychic environment that is saturated with fear and negativity.
Life is an ongoing, continuous process of choosing, moment after moment.
The more we pay attention to what we are choosing, the more power we have to bring balance, harmony and wholeness to the big picture.
