Destroy All Digital Clocks

Back in my printed ‘zine days in the early 90s, I was reading in one little samizdat publication a little article titled something “Destroy All Digital Clocks.” The writer’s point was that looking at digital read-outs makes people stupid. See, the digital is for the stiff and left-brained, and nullifies the creativity of the right brain. When you see digital, you register a clinical “2:14.” Compare that with analog, where you register “Oh, it’s about quarter after two.” Not so precise and mind-numbing. Last winter, while on the Staten Island ferry, a college kid asked me what the time was. I looked at my analog watch, and said, “It’s about quarter to seven.” He said, ‘So, is that, uh, like, 6:45?” I wanted to brain him. Anyway, today I went to the control panel of my computer to change my digital clock display down in the corner of the screen to analog, but no dice. This newer MicroSoft version doesn’t give you that option like older versions did, so I just shut the clock off, and moved my physically real analog clock with the Chinese numbers to the right of my computer for better viewing. Destroy All Digital Clocks. Yes, let’s do that.

onetime I was at this
onetime I was at this training conference at work and I zoned out into near-complete timelessness. i looked up at the analog clock and it didn't start ticking until I acknowledged linear time again
Let the only -
Let the only thing in your life that is digital -
be the fingers on your hands ! (your Digits)
I've written extensively about the falsity
of "digital" "technology" over the years.
Glad to hear from someone who has gotten
the message elsewhere !

I like digital clocks
the original ones were designed for people who couldn't count higher than 12, so theyre not exactly feedin your mind either
i am 100% sure that i can handle looking at time represented by numbers without losing out on creativity. my mind is stronger than that. Also, turning something as subjective as time into a linear progression of numbers takes abstract thinking to understand, no matter how the numerical value is represented.
You can also fit 'digital' numbers into smaller spaces, thus being more creative and they dont take moving parts so they use less resources to complete, allowing a clock to be 'manufactured' by software designers and fit into your mobile device or computer screens corner, allowing more convenient time telling in a small easily accessable space, without the use of additional gears, batteries, etc. Since they lack moving parts, they use less energy and can last much longer. Digital clocks can be coordinated by satellite all over the world without interference so that people can be coordinated, which is essentially the entire purpose of a clock.
You are mourning the loss of analog without seeing the benefits of digital. nostalgia is not as good as it used to be, man.
peace to all clocks.
