About Me
- Bio
Evolver since 2006.
Born a child of counter-cultural parents, I was named after a Native American family friend who was the first to survive out of 4 children. It was believed this woman survived because she was the first child to be named after nature (after the whole planet) as was the tribal tradition. As my parents had a son pass away before I was born, they took on this name for me in order to ensure my survival with a healthy life in harmony with nature.
Raised an only-child to pagan, Zen Buddhist, visionary artist, and anti-war activist parents, my perspective on reality could be considered unique from the beginning, however this uniqueness did not give way to an easy childhood. Living in rural Massachusetts by age 3, my family was often misunderstood by the majoritively conservative upper-middle class families surrounding us. After leaving a Rudolph Steiner school for the public school system at age 6, few peers shared how I had been taught to interact with the world. Finding myself frequently ostracized throughout my youth, I immersed myself in visual, musical, and performing arts as an escape. A ballerina of 16 years, avid piano player from age 3, and actor with professional theater groups such as Shakespeare & Company, The Berkshire Theater Festival, and The Berkshire Public Theater, I quickly learned that expressing myself artistically was a necessary remedy to an otherwise isolated childhood.
My desire to flee from the incompatible public school system inspired me to graduate from high school early to attend Bard College at Simon's Rock in Western MA, where I immersed myself in philosophy, comparative religion, and digital arts. The process of studying philosophy at Simon's Rock, combined with my parents blend of eastern, yogic, and pagan beliefs, created an insatiable appetite within me to find one unifying truth behind all religions.
It was during this time that strong synchronicity began in my life. The number 68, for example, had followed me since childhood. But in college, the number 89 was suddenly introduced. Upon realizing that these were the same numbers when rotated, I combined these numbers together to create 689. This immediately brought forth a vision of the yin/yang (69) encompassing a mobius strip (∞) - the sign of infinity. At this point, I felt I'd been cued in on a simple rule behind the nature of reality. In order for existence to be possible, and for reality (or any system) to be infinite, an equal balance of dualistic forces must be present. Without this balance, one side overtakes the other, and equilibrium collapses along with the system.
I immediately began applying this vision to my various religious studies, and found it represented time and time again - in pagan & yogic beliefs, Buddhism, and even in Christianity's stories of creation and the fall from the Garden of Eden. The clearer I was able to view the common seed of all religions, the more I came to comprehend the notion of a force behind all existence that I can still to this day only describe as "Source".
After graduating Simon's Rock College in 1996, I moved to Boston and began working as a graphic designer for local magazines and newspapers. During this time, I continued my pursuit of electronic music, became an avid freediver (which unknowingly introduced me to meditation) and in 1998 began composing and producing under the name "Project Sphere" http://last.fm/music/project+sphere
It was during this time in the late-90s that I became painfully obsessed with the approaching fossil fuel crisis. But as I became a stronger and stronger activist for the environment, standing up against Arctic Wildlife Drilling, pesticide use, and nonsustainable agriculture, my peers backed away - not sharing my perspectives. I then realized the only true outlet for expressing my personal world views was through song. This became the main fuel behind Project Sphere's creation - (the sphere standing for perspective, as well as the shape of the planet.)
As I produced tracks, I would share them everywhere, in the hopes of finding others that shared in the same concerns, philosophies and vision. Then in 1999, upon the suggestion of my mother, I began studying Usui Reiki. The immediate effects of this were extraordinary, and everyday I felt new secrets about the hidden nature of reality were unfolding before my eyes. Unfortunately, aside from my mother, it pained me to have no peers to share these experiences with. Right around the point where I found myself teetering between a self-diagnosis of insanity, or the second coming of Christ, my call was answered. There were others - and we found eachother.
With this newfound spiritual kinship, I begin hosting frequent weekend gatherings in Cambridge, MA. in which attendees of similar mind would meet, sometimes for days at a time, to share philosophies, read aloud from books, perform energy healing, create art, watch films together, and generally expand our minds in any way possible. Incredible growth took place, and the gatherings, and continued up until September of 2001.
As fear gripped the nation post 9/11 and jobs were lost, fear also entered the group, guiding the energy and direction of the meetings in unhealthy ways. Eventually calling the group quits, I returned to a more secluded life and continued to focus on music production and sharing my viewpoints via Project Sphere.
It wasn't long before I began dreaming of putting my years as a newspaper and magazine designer to use in the development of a new magazine that would cover everything from spirituality to environmentalism to raw foods to shamanic practices to scientific and technological breakthroughs. In 2006, after spending two years researching ways to start up such a magazine, I caught wind of a prototype for a new magazine called "Evolver" produced by Daniel Pinchbeck and others. My interest in meeting these people behind the magazine brought me all the way to Burning Man for the very first time in 2006. I had honestly never desired to go to Burning Man prior, however, upon hearing that the Evolver writers and publishers were creating a new camp called Evolutionary Center at Burning Man, I quickly joined up with the Evolver team to help design and build the camp. Thus, I had the pleasure of spending my first Burn in the company of kindred spirits that not only shared my worldview, but lived it very actively...daily.I thank Source for finding all of you, and am constantly astonished at the exponentially increasing number of awakened individuals I come in contact with every day. I feels it's been amazing to see these past 15 years unfold, within myself, and within everyone else here on Earth. Without such as hubs of Reality Sandwich and Evolver, we could all very well still be adrift, isolated with only our Messiah-complexes to keep us company ;) Thank you all for sharing the vision and building the dream.
