I would like to say I am not necessarily an anarchist. I just want change within our system. If our governments are willing to change the way they run from the best interests of the corporations to the best interest of people I would be happy.
Rather than our resources being sent to another country, keep them here. Run local farmhouses and such so people can at the very least purchase local food.
Governments should work for the people, not the other way around. A local government having a say in their respective area is the better than a federal government that has control of a country. First off a law that works in one area of the country may not work in another area of the country.
Currently this is the Hierarchy of my current government. Federal > Provincial > Municipal. The city of Vancouver, British Columbia tried to legalize marijuana, they succeeded for nearly a year until the federal government said. No you as a municipality do not have the authority to override federal law. I agree in terms of harder drugs. The city of Vancouver noticed a change in the economy through this, it was good for their city. Why should someone who is across the country and never visits the other side be able to influence what goes on there.
The Democratic system requires a great change in order to work for the people. It needs to be flipped upside down. Municipality > Provincial > Federal. Where federal law is rare. Each municipality creates laws for what works in their city and if it is something that many municipalities believe works for the people it can go up for provincial. When the majority of provinces make a law and it works for the people, it can then be put up for federal law. An example of something that would easily make it to federal law would be drinking and driving, distracted driving (cell phones), etc, etc. Because the majority of people believe that safety is important.
You have access to be able to goto your local municipality and complain if you want something done right. People on the municipal level have more capacity to be held accountable than on a federal level.
Personally I think the federal level is just too far away. I live in Alberta, People in Ontario or Quebec could goto Ottawa, Register their complaints and Idea's. In this working world if you are not nearby the federal government building there is very little you can do. Not being able to afford going on a vacation let alone a trip across a country.
