23 Skidoo: Edge’s Birthday Wish from the Edge

Ever think about the fact that while in the womb your little body to be underwent several million years of evolutionary experimentation in a just few months? Awesome right? But what’s it all about? Existence, I mean. I’m sure we’ve all asked this, in one bathroom or another.

So when the measurements of time feel like they’re working against you because, you know, it’s your birthday—you can’t help but look back to a freeze-framed image of your body’s momentous expulsion from momma’s love canal into this blossoming hodgepodge of light, cold, language, and OTHER beings and wonder just for a second, “Being? Growth? What the hell, why the hell is it?”

Well, if you haven’t guessed - it is my birthday, and a lot of folks have been asking the obvious question: What are you doing for your birthday and what do you want? Well what I’ll be doing I have no idea – BUT what I’d like…

Simply, it is in everyone’s benefit to take a wee bit of time out of their busy, stressful, tense, confusing day to experience the bigger picture, the larger reality, what’s really going on, the only game in town – consciousness (the very channel through which one experience’s “their day”). My REAL interest is to encourage folks discover what it is that is looking through their eyes on an experiential experimental level. If we were part of a society that encouraged introspection it is doubtful that many of the absurd problems that we are dealing with today (and will deal with tomorrow) as a global community could exist. We would simply know better. We would’ve outgrown it by now.

Out off all the things we were taught in school, all the miles of text we read, we have for most of our life paid plenty of attention to these ideas that we’ve picked up, our memory, our emotions, our beliefs, and our imagination. But, most of us have spent little or no time investigating the very PLATFORM from which all these things happen—The very generator of these happenings.

This is an invitation to meet that which is being invited. It’s far grander than you can imagine and unlike just about everything else happening on the block and around the corner – it is actually worth your time. This is actually meeting your self. Not the IDEA of yourself (which is what you do, think, say, remember, make), or even the self that you’ve identified as being the image you see reflected back in the mirror, not the self with a name that is from somewhere and going somewhere and wants to be this or experience that. The part that is the foundation for all that stuff—consciousness. Discover what it is that just made sense out of the shapes ‘discover’ as of fifteen words ago. Everything would be a little more evolutionary if we’d all do as regularly as we check Facebook.

When you meet that which is seeing these shapes, this/that is reality, you’ll find that you are not limited to a name or even a strictly physical experience. You’ll move beyond the tail-chasing melodrama and into the utterly awesome obvious of our shared circumstance. This is something actually worth doing. More important and revealing than reading any book, is finding out what is doing the reading. That, which can read/is reading now. This is consciousness. To find out what consciousness is it must be explored.
At some point you will have enough free time to free yourself from time and then all your time will be freedom.
