There is no doubt that we have entered a time of great change. Everyone can feel it whether they can comprehend it or not. The evidence is everywhere; in politics, the economy, science and technology, in earth changes and in consciousness.

Change in this great arena called life is happening so fast now that it can seem overwhelming. It can feel as if time itself is quickening. It can feel as if we have no control over the outcome of this transition. When, in fact, the opposite is true. Only we can determine the future, but we must actively participate in the change, otherwise the future will be determined for us if we choose not to look in the mirror.

Life is like a mirror. When we smile, it smiles back at us. When we scowl, it scowls back at us. To effectively change the world, "You don't comb the mirror, you comb your own hair and the mirror changes," as David Icke so wisely puts it.

We must embrace the present, even what appears to be bad, because each convulsion is necessary to ultimately regain health. The collapse of the predatory economic system and tyrannical control systems will be a glorious and painful event wrapped up in one. But it will eventually lead to love, freedom, and peace for all.

How do I know this? Is some cosmic time traveler feeding me this prophecy? No, I simply part my hair in those directions in the mirror and have faith that the vast majority of conscious humans also project the same desire of well-being. Those who scowl at freedom and peace and part their hair towards hate, no matter how large and fancy their mirror, will soon experience the personal reflection of their colic.

Now, those who manipulate the hate and division, and control the wars and economic slavery will likely break the mirror during this transition, causing what may appear to be seven years of bad luck for the rest of us. But those who previously enjoyed the largest and most powerful reflection devices will be limited to the scattered jagged pieces left by their tantrum, while the rest of us keep smiling.

For sure, we face very real challenges ahead that will make it difficult for each of us. Many people's way of life is dependent on the current hideous reflection. Unfortunately, these folks will likely be cut the deepest when the mirror shatters.

In order for the rest of humanity to survive and navigate the mess, they must first recognize their own distorted appearance and give themselves a makeover before the collapse arrives. Thankfully, many are offering them combs and brushes, but they must also be willing to groom themselves.

No amount of force will bring about the necessary reflection, because the ideas of force and fear will have been shattered in the old mirror. We must gather the tools to shield ourselves from the approaching shards, and cultivate the skills to put the pieces back together in a way that reflects the more attractive values of peace and freedom.

We must rebuild with a foundation of love, especially for those who couldn't see before -- and even for those who broke the mirror -- or we will create small splinters in the new mirror that will eventually result in the same hateful reflection.

It will actually be much easier to rebuild than to dodge the shrapnel of collapse. All we must do is pause in front of the mirror, reflect on the type of world we want to see, and smile.

Change

I sincerely believe that you are entirely too optimistic about our current situation. The rose colored glasses are distorting the reality of mankind. At this time there is (as you call it) "a quickening, a great change", but it is not due to a mass change of consciousness as you imply. It is however, a dissolving of conscience on a mass scale. Ego is presently over-riding all compassion and caring.

First are the major international corporations are in control of our ecological destiny, and greed is the motivating factor. With them behind the proverbial wheel, we are indeed on an accelerated road to oblivion. Climate change will inevitably be our ultimate end. Need I say more?

A second block to an enlightenment or change of consciousness on a global scale is religion; specifically fundamentalism. Be it Christian or Islamic, it is all motivated by a feeling of self-righteous and pious superiority, with the idea that only they have the ultimate truth, and all others are not worthy of existence. There is no difference between Christian fundamentalists and Islamic fundamentalists. Be it bombing a World Trade Center, or bombing an Oklahoma City Federal Bldg. and family planning clinics; the outcome is identical, an outcropping of hate and deceased individuals. I have never read these teachings of hate and intolerance in any of the teachings of Jesus, or in the teachings of Mohammed in the Qur'an. The unfortunate part is that both of these factions and brainwashing factories of insanity are growing in number.

The third block to enlightenment is the nonsensical aspect of technology. Technology has is its place in science and medicine, engineering, etc. But we have a younger generation in which the majority is incapable of forming any type of independent thought. Those that can are in a minority. The majority are so absorbed by video games, texting absolute nonsense, smartphones transmitting idiocy, and a generation that cannot even form a complete and correct sentence let alone critical thought. I do not fault them; however I do fault the the major corporations that have brainwashed this generation into the supposed need for all of this drivel causing gadgetry.

I don't believe that mankind has the capacity to (as you say) "recognize their own distorted appearance" before this planet suffers its climatological doom. But that is the conundrum; isn't it? The final race: mankind's change of consciousness on a massive scale; or, our ultimate demise by overpopulation, pollution, drought, over-consumption draining all of our resources, and climate change. This brings to mind my favorite movie line from the first Batman movie: Jack Nicholson's statement in his role as the Joker, when he says "this town needs an enema". Substitute "world" for "town".

I sincerely hope a mass change of consciousness does come about, and that one small shard of the mirror will save humanity; but it doesn't look promising.

The First Step on the path

This year has been all about awareness and change.
-Climate change get's noticed: Thousands of dead birds, Tsunami's, extreme weather, polar ice melts - the average person now accepts change is happening, and it's accelerating, add that 2010 saw a 5% rise in CO2 alone. That perception that we can ignore it is gone. But like scattered and lost sheep the world's leaders don't know where to go.
-Arab Spring: No One saw large general uprisings in the middle east coming, and Egypt was almost as much a security state as North Korea. Every nation in the middle east has unrest. This is the last place where pundits would have guessed there would be a yearning for freedom - and largely successful movements too.
-Occupy Wall St: The other place no one saw an open rebellion would be the US, and few would have guessed it would be anti-corporate and spread so quickly.

The blinders are coming off. We are realizing the world is in trouble and we need to make some big changes. The system as it is cannot and will not address these problems. So something will have to give. Awareness of a problem allows the dialog on solutions if we can get past the blaming.

We can have a future on this planet, we can have a future that is more enlightened and educated, we can have a more socially just world.

The old civilization is about to fall, can we build a new one inside the old one?

In response to Mark

Hey mark, up until last night, I had been thinking exactly what you are thinking. You make absolutely valid points and those facts alone are what were frightening me. The future seems scary but there is no need for withheld fears and anger brotha. I'm not saying you're afraid or angry, but maybe those feelings come out sometimes like they do for myself as well. Like you, I also do not fault the majority for being brainwashed because it is a vast and ridiculously fine-tuned system of propaganda and mind control that these "elite" control.

With that said, we here on Evolver know about how to free ourselves from this slavery and become ultimately enlightened! And what a blessing it is to share that on a social network with you all. My fears lied mainly with my own family and friends that are adamant fundamentalists. My family has even shunned me at one point for my spiritual differences.

I was struggling with atheism recently until I came upon the truth. I found that inner peace and love for the universe that I'm sure you know and cherish. Always hold onto that and think of nothing else. Never hold ANY fear whatsoever because you cannot be touched when you are a firm beacon of light and love.

I always knew that thoughts and prayers were powerful but now its scientifically proven and that's great. You want to always have nothing but good intentions and fearlessness. You want to always have the love in your heart for absolutely everything.

Is this faith? You can call it that brotha but its truth! The most we can do for our loved ones is try to spread the word of enlightenment. Spreading love is my dedication now! Dismiss your thoughts of the corporate machine. I know its difficult, even for myself sometimes. This new age of consciousness that is coming... its not just for Earth. This new awareness is a natural evolutionary process that applies to all of the cosmos. I am honored that I can share this event in cosmic history with all of you. Much love to you all!

Enlightenment

Many thanks for your profound response to my comment. In regard to your point concerning fear and anger; I would respond by saying that it is not so much that. It is however a huge disillusion or disappointment in humanity. As I mentioned, I do indeed hope and pray that we (mankind as whole) is able to find a change of consciousness on a mass scale. We do have a handful of great spiritual leaders such as: Eckhart Tolle, Gregg Braden, Wayne Dyer, etc. that are nudging us in the right direction, but there are so few of them, and so few of us that are paying attention to what they are pointing out to us. This is my concern! As I pointed out in the comment, it is a race; enlightenment or extinction. My hope is not exactly the same as where my betting money would go. My faith in humanity is not high; but that does not exclude possibility.
It has been proven that if enough enlightened people unite in a single simultaneous consciousness, that change can be affected. This was beautifully documented in a marvelous book by Lynne McTaggart called "The Intention Experiment". The barrier now is to unite those of us with the enlightened mindset to unify on the same page, and at the same time, to create a mental convergence over the forces of greed and ego. Our modern day spiritual teachers have given us the tools to complete the task, now it is up to us to apply this knowledge and make change.

Once again; many thanks for your response; and may love and light always be with you and yours. With enough of us..... we can win, and come out of this alive, and proceed with the next step in our evolution.

I agree with this statement

"There is no doubt that we have entered a time of great change. Everyone can feel it whether they can comprehend it or not. The evidence is everywhere; in politics, the economy, science and technology, in earth changes and in consciousness."

Are we gazing into a mirror or a crystal ball? Just because I can perceive a sensory feed back loop does not meaning my interpretation of those perceptions is close to reality as it is or that, that perception is in fact reality. There are many traps along the way.

It is best to always seek the "truth" and some truths maybe be offensive.
