Rites of Passage - Book recommendation

Hello fellow evolvers ~
I am currently reading one of the most profound books I have ever encountered in my life, and I am a voracious reader. Rites of Passage, and their crucial importance, are a central theme. The author points out that for women, rites of passage have tended to be more confirming and acknowledging of the biological changes that transform a girl into a woman, and thereby welcoming her into the greater community. But for men, if we aren't given a structured and meaningful passage (often a brush with death) and outlet for the vastly ramped up production of testosterone, our internal and self (mis) guided attempts at confirming this transformation often turn violent in one form or another (military, gangs, Jackass, etc.). And without the welcoming into the greater community provided by the successful passage through an intentional ritual, we remain forever boys, ultimately confused about our identities and with tendencies to lash out in some form or another at women, our children, ourselves, and society as a whole.
It cannot be stated strongly enough ~ Rites of Passage are essential ingredients to a healthy, integrated, functional, and meaningful societies, families, and selves.
I would recommend the book I am reading to anyone who has a genuine interest in assisting the evolution of our culture beyond narcissistic self into a society that identifies with a greater whole.
It is called "Madness at the Gates of the City" and written by Barry Spector.
