About Me
- Bio
even dawn's songs sound like music plucked from the future, wrapped in the roots of deep ancestry.
She began writing music one sunrise, seven years (and a day) before 21/12/2012. Awaiting the ascent of the sun over the treetops, her first song- 'altar.nation' took written form. Within that following year, from the summer of 2005 to the summer of 2006 she wrote 7 a'cappella songs in total, some of which are being recorded, with instrumental accompaniment for release on her first e.p. '7even' through Mind-Heart Media in 2010.
Performing these songs for herself while at home mostly, while walking along winding tracks in the garden, even's delivery was something like mystic poetry, liltingly sing-song stories and musically descriptive scenes. She then began approaching her songs as rhymes, developing her rhythmic, rap-like delivery. That's right about when things started to tick over in a whole new dimension.
The 'invisible library' which was opened up by studying the art of the MC offered even keys to access the vast soundscapes of her imagination...
Her assignment became to skillfully craft vocals and tracks - her intention: to musically voyage to the other side and back. By now many more songs were tumbling out of her, all the while deepening even's desire to decipher the mysteries of the mystic jam band in her mind.
It propelled her into improvised vocal settings with a widely diverse and world-music inspired crew of instrumental local musicians, even started finding a spot on the mic in the mix.
Returning home with 'jam on her fingers' she started picking up the acoustic guitar and then a melodic steel percussive instrument called the 'hang'.It is often remarked upon for looking like a UFO, but the hang not only looks like it's from Outer Space, it sounds like it too.
Now with the stellar ability to accompany her unique voice with an equally unique instrument, the songs stemming from her fertile inspirations have taken hold and are now taking shape as a mesmerising live performance set and planned recordings for her anticipated releases -> which will be well worth seeking out in the future.
When visiting with kinfolk in Melbourne even plays in the Kinship, layering backups and rapped vox into the collaborative works of Priestessa, Jshwa and Mattriks.
even dawn's vox were recorded for her role of the cosmic history conduit on the Mattriks and the Book of Kin album 'Made Outta Motion' and she is also an accomplished visual designer and artist. Her graphic work is regularily featured on the artwares of Mind-Heart Media and in Second Creation magazine.
An essence of such sweet sentiment gets carried through even dawn's songs, they sound like soothing balm for the weary-hearted. The melodic arrangements she plays on the 'hang' transport listeners to celestial realms where they are offered a piece of paradise to bring back home to earth.
Touching a music of the future,
embracing a return to soul.
