What Occupy has accomplished so far

1. Shifted more than 10 billions dollars from big banks to credit unions. Relocalized money flow.

2. Shifted the national conversation to focus on the interlinked issues of income disparity, joblessness , homelessness , debt, crony capitalism, big banks, large corporations and foreclosures.

3. Caused government officials to begin drafting new types of legislation for banks.

4. Set off a number of actions to hold off foreclosures

5. Inspired many job creation projects organized by citizens.

6. Has a provided a forum for the amplification of voice of resistance to the Keystone pipeline which has led to Obama postponing its construction

7. Has provided a place for people to share their personal stories, emotions, and grievances, and provided a way for these sharings to be heard by the world.

8. Created a more democratic political process that has had worldwide participation. This democratic process will find many other arenas of application in the future from local town meetings to schools learning how to run themselves to organizations running more democratically to different types of social action etc...

9. Brought world-wide attention on the plight of the homeless people and drug addicts, transformed many of their lives, and provided a new way of working with them that is more integrative and that treats them as peers

10. Shown cities how to create lively town centers

11. Created a worldwide sharing economy with food services, medical services, counselling, bike repair, workshops, talks, accomodations, music, dance, media, libraries, goods exchange that is worth the equivalent of billions of dollars. Is also inspiring many sharing projects outside encampments.

12. Provided a place for many different social actions to create awareness and attract new people. Its energized many different issues. It is helping people to see the links between the many different types of social movements.

13. Networked people and organizers across many different demographics and sectors of society.

14. Provided natural and manmade diaster relief training. If diaster does hit, many communities now know how to self-organize into self-supportive systems.

15. Provided a new model of social activism based on networks of local places where people can gather to share information, activate and strategize in non-hierarchical ways.

16. Is inspiring the creation of new forms of mass media that are not owned by the wealthy and the elite.
