A Conversation with the Creators of Lucidity
Nese Senol

Lucidity is an ongoing "web saga" that follows Fred and George - alter-egos of creators Sean Oliver and Danny Torgersen - on their exploration of lucid dreaming and alternate levels of consciousness. Part comedy-adventure, part instruction manual, Lucidity is unique for its refusal to stay on the screen: by bringing awareness to the process of lucid dreaming, the show encourages lucid dreaming and the exploration of consciousness in its viewers. I recently talked with Sean and Danny about how this zero-budget, volunteer-based venture got off the ground, how it works, and where it’s headed next.

"Banish the word 'struggle' from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we have been waiting for." — Hopi elders

About Me

Bio

I'm a doctoral graduate student in the Program in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the University of Pennsylvania and a contributing editor for Reality Sandwich and Evolver.net. My academic work involves visionary art, psychedelic culture, futures studies, media studies, and performative aesthetics. Iam the organizer of “Theorizing Psychedelics - An Interdisciplinary Reading Group” in Philadelphia, and will be teaching an undergraduate course on “Poetic Vision and the Psychedelic Experience” in the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters. I'm also a vegetarian and am particularly obsessed with the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. I have a tattoo of the Mandelbrot Set on my foot, because fractals are everywhere, and in everything I do.
