'In the beginning (of Time) was the Word (Meaning), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (Meaning). John 1:1

When people find no Meaning in anything they have at the same time no feeling of God. The state of Meaninglessness is a terrible place to find oneself. It has to be gotten over. It is the same as godlessness, because if you say there is no God, you are saying there is no Meaning. (Although many consider, or should I say imagine themselves to be god created in their own image (imagination). Self importance is rampant but that's a subject for another posting.) If you think there is Meaning, you believe in God . Meaning is God. You cannot say that you do not believe in God but believe that there is Meaning in things. If you dislike the word God, then say Meaning instead. The word God shuts some people's minds. The word Meaning cannot. It opens the mind. Meaning was before time began. It was before creation, for creation occurs in running Time, in which birth and death exist. Birth and death belong to the passage of Time. There is no way of describing existence in the higher-dimensional world outside Time. This understanding can only be approached by varying degrees of verification through our efforts to attain higher states of Consciousness. But then who of the materialists would believe our personal evidence or subjective experiences. The wisdom of Meaning is foolishness to the materiallists.

Consider this

Most of those philosophical-dogmatic metaphysical materialists state that there can be no God (or Meaning, or creative force etc, whatever you like to call it) because all in the universe needs something to come before it to create it. they say that everything is deterministic, that everything depends on other things to create it. So a creator would also need a creator, they say, and so there cannot be a creator because someone or something would have had to create it.

But lets take a step back here. This assumes that meaning or God or Being or The Force needs cause and effect in order to exist. The physical universe that we witness objectively is all cause and effect, it is like a extraordinary complex domino set up. If you knock this domino down than this happens, like wise with that domino. But a system of cause and effect needs a first cause and that first cause (tipping over the domino) must exist outside the system of cause and effect.

What I am saying is that God, Meaning, Being, The Force, probably exists in a state of infinite potentiality and consciousness and needs no first cause, in fact we cannot fathom this existence even though our very soul is made up of it.

This is my speculation on the God-Universe thing/problem. It is the only thing I can think of.

The Dis-covery of Man

what i mean(ing) is

Is there any reason for me to adjust my behavior because there is a 'meaning' hidden in each moment or are we to believe there is nothing beyond what our five senses tell us and truth can only be obtained by the so-called 'scientific method'. Is there any reason for me to pursue higher states of consciousness if after 70 plus years I die and face individual annilhilation and non-existence. Is there meaning in life? And yes, I believe Buddhists especially appreciate esoteric knowledge, the knowledge of the hidden; what life is all about. Many do not like to speak of 'God' because of preconceived notions. Rilke said, 'You could endure the voice of God, far from it.'

that Amos quote

The Bible has a transforming power. There are many, many wonderful stories, poetry, piercing parables and wisdom beyond ordinary mind contained within the Bible. Do I believe in the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob? It is my, it is our tradition of religious belief. Do I also value Carlos Castenada, Shakespeare, Daniel Pinchbeck, Yogananda, Gurdjieff, and countless others for their unending search for the truth and the world as it exists in reality? Absolutely. I am so grateful to live in this time of transformation.
