Herbal Medicine; GIfts From Gaia

Herbs. A small word that symbolizes an entire world of magic. Herbal medicines have been our companion throughout the evolution of mankind. Indeed, these gifts from the planet have assisted us in consciousness expansion (through sacred mushrooms, ergot, wormwood, and other mind opening natural gifts), healing (through some of the more traditionally known remedies like echinacea, ginger, ginseng, and feverfew), and greater enjoyment of life (with herbs like st. john's wort, skullcap, and kava kava).

Although they are still with us today, many of us have forgotten the sacred art of healing and growing with the assistance of these biological gifts from the Earth we inhabit. Nevertheless, herbal remedies still exist, ready to assist our bodies in all its many functions; spiritual, physical, mental, and even metaphysical.

Through our history with these tools, we have used herbs to connect with nature, heal our bodies, and even cast spells. Herbs are as much a part of us as is sunlight, for they are the gifts and primary tools the planet has provided for us to expand and evolve.

Currently, our ability to use such tools is under attack by the system that wishes to outlaw the propagation, sale and use of herbal medicines. Every few months a new herb or alternative medicine is banned from the free market in the states or the European Union, making us ever dependent on the system that seeks to regulate our connection to the planet.

It's in our hands to relearn to work with these tools before its too late. Now is the time to learn how to use herbal medicines in our homes, for our children, and with our communities. It is easy to grow a simple container herb garden, to prepare our own home-made tinctures, and to utilize herbs in daily life for increased health and well being.

Some great books to check out to get started:

The Herbal Medicine Maker's Handbook, James Wood
The Wiccan Herbal, Jane Wood
Detoxification, Linda Page

This power was gifted to all of us, don't let the system take it away! We've already seen what kind of parameters the system has set for its version of our well being: GMO's, radically problematic synthetic drug developments, inappropriate testing standards, and harmful agents in our environment.

Be well, friends, and happy exploring!

I love finding herbs. Two summers ago I cut my thumb open to the bone at work, and rather than go to the hospital and get stitches I healed it with St. Johns Wort which grows plentifully on the hill nearby.

Awesome!

I love it! Ever since I decided to become a mother I have depended upon natural medicines to heal my body, mind, and spirit, and the progress has been exponential. I used herbal medicine to heal depression and anxiety, something prescription medication did not remedy. I could go on and on about the side effects of allopathic medicines I used to strengthen myself to face spiritually based challenges, but, the point is that these remedies are free, natural, and are gifted to us from the same substance that creates our bodies. While we do so adore our creative abilities in the world of medicine, we must remember that we did not create these physical bodies, and they are most akin to the natural substances freely gifted to us by the Universe. Let's be the change we wish to see in the world!

Take good care of your spirit!

YES!

Chris and I are preparing to start our own food and medicine garden this spring, and I can't wait to take the bond to the Earth to the next level! Thanks for reading and sharing your personal account of well being with these natural gifts. Peace back at you friend :)

The path of earth

I am certainly trying to incorporate herbal based medicines as well which currently include 5-HTP(Griffonia Simplicifolia), Rhodiola Rosea along with the occasional mushroom such as yourself, IrieZonaPsychonaut....what beautiful and useful resources this earth gives us!
