For all you music lovers, concert-goers, and all around psyche-heads, a band for you is coming to town....

Just taking this chance plug to one of my all time favorite bands from the '90s- called Broadcast from the UK. They do not tour that often, and are highly recommended both on record and live. They put on a great show with really tasteful light/video projections as well a la Midnight Cowboy party-scene.
Their songs feature influences ranging from the Doors, Elephant's Memory, John Barry, Ennio Morricone, United States of America, early electronic music, among so many others. Luscious arrangements are topped by Trish Keenan's oft Grace Slick-style vocals in a truly unique and heady synthesis of sounds. Picturing a clash of '60s San Francisco with BBC Radiophonic freak outs care of Delia Darbyshire and Dr. Who would not leave you far off the mark.

First starting out on Stereolab's Duophonic label, their blend of analog electronics and live instruments eventually landed them a unique role as the only real 'band' on the Warp record's roster, an otherwise mostly IDM and techno label. Soundtrack to a transcendent experience, Broadcast have consistently proven that good songwriting is not dead, but simply requires the talent and innate skills they wield to keep pulling it off.
