The general concept with in the Nagualism, as I understand it is that the perception of reality is a thing remembered. We are constantly experiencing and yet due to our energetic shortcomings, we have memories locked away within ourselves.

When I started reading Castaneda, some twenty years ago my understanding even at that point was, I was remembering/uncovering knowledge I had already learned. This I have found out since is the experience of many who read the books for the first time.

It is the case that the Toltec system is specifically designed to open up/ unlock energy from within the self - Knowledge is power and if power becomes inaccessible it is forgotten.

When we start to recapitulate we begin releasing the energy held up at the extremities of our luminous cocoon; redeploying it to the energy centres within our luminous being namely the internal organs, which is where it is needed.

There does come a point however, when if we are able to store/redeploy enough energy we tip the balance so to speak. And rather than remembering the moment as you are experiencing it...you start 'seeing' the moment in real time for yourself as it occurs.

Seeing if you like is just that then - the 'backlog' has been cleared away and you have a 'Clear View' for the first time. This is something of a 'Rebirth'

The Recapitulation process must continue however but the processing of past information has tipped the balance in favour of 'seeing' rather than remembering. There is always more energy to unlock (parts of ourselves that remain inaccessible), that we require to make us more effective warriors .

....so Push on!!!

A warrior seeks power, and one of the avenues to power is dreaming . What you call dreams are real for a warrior. You must understand that a warrior is not a fool. A warrior is an immaculate hunter who hunts power; he's not drunk, or crazed, and he has neither the time nor the disposition to bluff, or to lie to himself, or to make a wrong move.

Power is something a warrior deals with. At first it's an incredible, far-fetched affair; it is hard to even think about it. Then power becomes a serious matter; one may not have it, or one may not even fully realize that it exists, yet one knows that something is there, something which was not noticeable before.

Any warrior could become a man of knowledge. As I told you, a warrior is an impeccable hunter that hunts power. If he succeeds in his hunting he can be a man of knowledge.

Only as a warrior can one survive the path of knowledge, because the art of a warrior is to balance the terror of being a man with the wonder of being a man.

A man of knowledge is one who has followed truthfully the hardships of learning; a man who has, without rushing or faltering, gone as far as he can in unraveling the secrets of personal power. Only be concerned with the idea of storing personal power.

Everything a man does hinges on his personal power. Therefore, for one who doesn't have any, the deeds of a powerful man are incredible. It takes power to even conceive what power is.

The nature of one's acts is unimportant as long as one acts as a warrior. If you really feel that your spirit is distorted you should simply fix it--purge it, make it perfect--because there is no other task in our entire lives which is more worthwhile.

The mood of a warrior is not so far-fetched for yours or anybody's world. You need it in order to cut through all the guff. To achieve the mood of a warrior is not a simple matter. It is a revolution. (1) To regard the lion and the water rats and our fellow men as equals is a magnificent act of the warrior's spirit. It takes power to do that.

People tell us from the time we are born that the world is such and such and so and so, and naturally we have no choice but to see the world the way people have been telling us it is. Seeing happens only when one sneaks between the worlds; the world of ordinary people and the world of sorcerers.

The real thing is when the body realizes that it can see. Only then is one capable of knowing that the world we look at every day is only a description.

From Journey to Ixtlan, by Carlos Castaneda (fairuse, educational)

.........................................................................

A warrior may be anything he wishes, a soldier or a Saint.

Some will be hunters, some will be warriors, a few stalkers and very few will be seers or dreamers and the gifted will be men of knowledge.

(1.) we are no more nor no less then anything else, a definition of humility.

You need not belabor recapitulation, seek power.

It does not matter what others think, remain detached. All is folly.

You may believe what you wish. In doing so I set you free.
