I've read 80% of these. The best ones are by Chardin, Ball, Calleman, Campbell, Oroc, Narby, Russell, Dick, Wilber and of course, McKenna.
I've recently read "The Holy Mushroom" by Jan Irvin, which was a scholarly look at mushrooms in Judeo-Christianity, as well as "Magic, Mysticism and the Molecule," which described various methods of contacting entities, including the psychomanteum. Similarly, good practical explorations into consciousness are documented in the two books on Floatation/Isolation Tanks by John C. Lilly and Michael Hutchinson. On an unlikely foray into fiction, I picked up Philip K. Dick's "A Maze of Death" and found a riveting and insightful experiment in reality as virtual reality, with similar ideas as in the movies "The Matrix" or "Dark City."
Another intriguing but no less experimental read is Carl Jung's "The Red Book." It was only published in the Fall of 2009 and promises to be an incredible peek into his world. Here's what he said of it:
The years… when I pursued the inner images, were the most important time of my life. Everything else is to be derived from this. It began at that time, and the later details hardly matter anymore. My entire life consisted in elaborating what had burst forth from the unconscious and flooded me like an enigmatic stream and threatened to break me. That was the stuff and material for more than one life. Everything later was merely the outer classification, scientific elaboration, and the integration into life. But the numinous beginning, which contained everything, was then.
You could say that the books below represent a similar search for the "outer classification" and "scientific elaboration" that results when the unconscious bursts forth and sends a comfortable mind into chaos. These authors have attempted to express the inexpressible and have put forth some truly astounding insights into the nature of mind, matter, and identity.

People are salivating for
People are salivating for that Red Book 8o)
Here is another great book list for others to peek at:
your list...
...is certainly impressive! Wow!
I saw the Red Book a few weeks ago at the Hammer in Los Angeles. It was pretty incredible. I don't have a copy of it myself, but seeing his work inspires me to make my own such book--to chronicle my own madness, of course.
I recently finished The Cosmic Serpent which I found interesting and digestible. Now I'm on to Tolle's A New Earth which, so far, isn't saying anything I haven't heard before, but ohmygawd, I sure do need to hear what he's saying--again and again and again.
Thanks for the list--I'm lifting a few titles for my own list.
