It’s been a week since witnessing the mind-blowing performance by Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni ba at the Getty in Los Angeles. And still, finding the words to describe the experience is a challenge.

As the industry formerly known as Record Labels is sucking its dinner through a feeding tube, music itself is soaring to new heights. We populate a melodious planet and perhaps there’s never been more abundance of necessary sonic gorgeousness than right now. If life does imitate art, we’ve an ear toward a future of substantial depth and beauty.

Michael Vick’s reinstatement by the NFL has sparked many debates. Should he be allowed such a prestigious job when his acts, so grievous still haunt many? Will the Eagles, who signed Vick to a two-year contract, lose fans and support for their team? The facts don’t lie: Vick willingly, horrifically abused dogs for the sake of his own twisted amusement.
