Solis et Lunae

Some of the books that are most important to me, I have come across randomly in garage sales and used books stores, and I often experience synchronicities while reading them. I have also noticed that synchronicities often occur when I am doing something that is outside of my usual routine.
Yesterday I went to my new favourite spot, Circus Books & Music. While writing this, I went to look up their website and found that the store is associated with legendary concert promoter Gary Topp, who shares my last name and may or may not be a cousin.
Yesterday at the store I spotted a book by Edward Edinger and recalled that Mr. Pinchbeck had mentioned him in connection to Jung. It was "The Creation of Consciousness", and I decided to buy it, and read a couple pages that day.
Last night I dreamt of a man who told me his name was Solis. I knew that this was the spelling and that it meant Sun. It was also clear to me that it had the dual meaning of "solace".
Today I worked out of the house which I don't normally do. As the end of the day approached, I realized I hadn't been outside, and it was perfectly clear and sunny. I took my new book and went out to the deck.
Edinger talked about a new myth that was forming, and that began with the life of Carl Jung. He says, "The essential new idea is that the purpose of life is the creation of consciousness." He quotes Jung, "Man's task is to become conscious of the contents that press upward from the unconscious. Neither should he persist in this unconsciousness nor remain identical with the unconscious elements of his being, thus evading his destiny, which is to create more and more consciousness. As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the mere darkness of being. It may even be assumed that just as the unconscious affects us, so the increase in our consciousness affects the unconscious."
I thought about how this shed new light on the themes I wrote about in The Book in the Sky, which is about the inaccessible becoming accessible.
He quoted Jung again, "Becoming conscious of an unconscious content amounts to its integration in the conscious psyche and is therefore a coniunctio Solis et Lunae."

Hi John,
When I look in random places, I seem to acquire all of the things I need. My best book find was when I was pondering the nature of truth one evening. The next day I went to a boot fair, and a copy of Crawley's Little Essays Toward Truth popped up from under a pile of junk.
Through dreaming one feels connected to the rising of the unconscious group mind, and ones role in its manifestation. It is a limitless source of information, and one I try to observe very carefully.
