Question for Everyone About Evolver Social Movement

I'm working on some of the text for the Evolver Social Movement, and in it, I'm writing some of the things we want to accomplish, such as sustaining/improving Evolver and RS, putting on Evolver festivals and conferences, creating complimentary currency systems, supporting regional communities, and doing partnerships on campaigns important to us (like preserving the rain forest).
Now, one thing I've been thinking about is hosting occasional worldwide healing meditations at certain times -- maybe solstices and equinoxes or other astronomical events, as well as around certain subjects -- ie: healing our earth, envisioning a more peaceful world, bringing more consciousness and compassion to our societies.
So here's two questions I'd love to hear back from you on.
1. Would you like to do occasional network wide healing meditations. Would synergizing our energy and thoughts with fellow Evolvers across the network be of interest to you, as we try to create positive transformations in the collective consciousness/morphogenic field? Or would people find this perhaps a little hokey, unproductive, and not practical?
2. If you are interested in us hosting group healing meditations, what occasions or issues/topics would you like to do it for? And what might be a process for deciding upon different occasions and topics?
I'd appreciate any feedback you might have.
Cheers,
Jonathan

Meditation, Action,
Lets do both!
Healing is important, so why limit which ways we do it. Physical, metaphysical, its all the same and its all good medicine, lets give opportunities for people to heal however works best for them.
I would be into a worldwide meditation and community action projects. ( If theres any Evolvers in Humboldt)
The more I think about the
The more I think about the complementary currency idea the more I like it. If we got a network for that up and running, a few people in every city really might be enough to get something off the ground.
As far as group meditations: good idea. Personally, I think they should be event-focused: when there's an earthquake somewhere, or it looks like war might break out, that kind of thing. Have a section for meditations, with the currently ongoing meditation displayed on the front page. When something goes off in the world, any Evolver can go to the 'Group Meditation' section and suggest the event. People can then go there and vote for whichever emergencies they think are important (and of course, participating in whichever they desire). This shouldn't be anonymous, like groks: each 'vote' should be understood to indicate a promise to participate, with each meditation thus gathering a small, temporary community around it. I think it would be enormously helpful to participants' energy if they knew that - say - a few hundred people scattered around the world were participating at that very moment (or at least during the same day ... allowances must be made for timezones.)
As far as regular meditations: you about cover the topics I would've picked. Perhaps, however, it might be helpful to focus these geographically? Like, during the 'world peace' meditation in week X we make a special focus on, say, 'peace in the Congo' (perhaps encouraging Evolvers to post stories about whatever topic, doing some research and educating one another to set the tone: empathic waves directed at the Congo might be a but more focused and, thus, more effective if we gather some knowledge about the Congo's history, culture, land, people, etc.)
Perhaps timing with astrological events, not just solstices and equinoxes but planetary transits as well. These would have to be crafted on a case-by-case basis, with the particular challenges and opportunities represented by the changing aspects worked into a unique meditation. These could be timed to kick off when the planets come into aspect so as to give the whole planet a bit of a 'boost' at a crucial time.
The Revolution is Within
go for it
Heal, heal away! We as a collective whole are a bit of a collective mess and any form of healing would no doubt be appreciated whether many people realize it's happening or not. And if anyone thinks it's hokey then maybe they should go do the hokey pokey and figure some things out by themselves and come on back later. It's bloody well brilliant.
Sacred frequencies should be talked about for sure. They're really great and helpful and healing.

avoiding the fetish syndrome
Since time in memorial, humans tend to deviate from spiritual teachers, healers and prophets-- Deviate by making materialistic-fetishes- insisting that physical objects are actual spiritual realities or holy paraphernalia-- Spiritual practice tends to differentiate the physical and spiritual, (but not confuse the two). This might found a new cult here or there, now and then.... Yet it becomes sectarian, divisive and ultimately unproductive of real spiritual gain--(The type of gain already available to all who earnestly seek).
I think on-line communities provide a great new advancement since it largely addresses the mind and somewhat engages it long enough for some experience to bud. As opposed to merely cumbersome physicality alone. (Cheers to evolver steering committee;)
Minds can first meet and exchange ideas and discuss plans. Plans can ultimately determine more informed courses of action-- As perhaps as-is here proposed-- Perhaps a selfless event like shared-garden-building (locally) does make sense, (if distant travel was not creating more demand for polluting travel markets). However, gardens do require continued dedication through time-- Not just a one day or a single initializing effort. Real work requires continued dedication. The details of dedication may become boring to the inexperienced, at given projects. Back to the internet connectivity, where all these things can be savored, considered exchanged--
However, don't overlook the fact of material sustenance-- Humans need more than sunlight alone to sustain. Art of sustenance is a million fold subject in itself.
I tried to join a commune at age 20 something-- It had disbanded by the time i settled affairs and traveled the distance to join it-- Such is life. Such is the incentive to look before you leap.

I like the idea. maybe we can tune in with the full/new moon prays happening at CoSM... another powerful node in the network

Perhaps you have one that i've missed out on but how about an evolver.net podcast?
You certainly would reach many more people -You could have some episodes where you have live phone ins and discussions and even record events and broadcast them on the podcast.
I agree that evolvers could get stuck into a communal art or ecology project to raise awareness on environmental issues and destruction of the rainforests.
I also think the starting sustainable city gardens run by evolvers would be a great idea too.
And why not think about communal land or public spaces to be donated for times when there are green events and gatherings.

Collective Energy...
...is a great accomplishment and works when people are all INTENDING the same thing...
Season changes, Full and New Moons and other auspicious times have been used by people for centuries to harness the appropriate energies for the good and benefit of all.
I am definitely interested in being a part of that...
Active Peace
Jonathan
I'd be interested in hosting meditation events with a focus on mindful actions - ways to be peaceful now. Teaching mindfulness in speech and behavior with meditation as an active tool - part of a lifestyle. I prefer not to meditate on an abstract, distant perhaps even unreal future world of peace or more plainly some other world - but meditating on this world - just as it is now - and finding peace here - in this world, realizing peace now, in this moment.
If the goal is peace then it is, in my view, unproductive to push agendas building social movement designed to work within existing social structures. Inside these structures, working with peace as an ends not a means, movements gaining momentum or carrying any weight will result in a shift of power - nothing more. This is why elections bring only a shift of power. This is not change.
When you create a movement fraught with resistance and struggle - where success is in a measure of number, a paradigm of power and control - can this really end in peace?
(Perhaps?) The best that can be done with is to look at what resists and what propels - and then work to balance these forces.
Whether on a personal or societal level, start with peace now - begin by creating globalized peace immediately. Let peaceful thoughts and actions organically direct our societal actions.

To have a goal, to be
To have a goal, to be working towards something, particularly when refering to states of meditation surely is an anathema?
What happens, if you realise, that everything is exactly as it is meant to be. To use a hindu analogy, it seems to be a "divine drama".
And this healing nonsense, I can't help but conjure up the shade of Uncle Al, who laughs and says
"Heal thyself healer!"
This isn't to put you down, congratulations you have opened up your reality tunnel, but don't get lost in the glass bead game (from one who has frequently).
The singularity has already happened, it just didn't happen in the way you expect(ed) and want(ed), but that's something you got to figure out yourself.
Pass on the meme, congratulations, you've made it to the otherside, (K)now you just have to relax, enjoy, and spread the ancient "good news",
Thought without action is
Thought without action is just as perilous as action without thought. By thought I mean awareness. Responding to Q1, it is what we make it. If we make it hokey, it will be percieved as hokey. Perception is subjective, yes, but its the thought behind the action of doing, the intention, that will surface as the perspective of whatever event. Further it will be as productive as we make it! If we commit ourselves to the time and place of the event and otherwise go about our daily lives unaffected by the experiences, it may be a fun event but still unproductive. If we can inspire others to action through the event and send a ripple through the hologram, then hell yes we did what we set out to do. Bringing practical knowledge to these events would help foster that action.
Responding to Q2- The Spores have monthly themes for discussion etc, so would it be too unlimiting to have events without a theme?? Would people get more out of creating their own moment? Answering a question with questions...

Yodhe - LOVE IT! So exactly it....
Re the group meditations - I'd appreciate a certain shared time when I could focus on knowing I'm consciously/actively feeling love for myself and everyone/everything, together with others...
Love to you :)
More altruism.
This site, and it's sister site reality sandwich, are completely amazing.
But if you want to change things, some greater focus on how this evolving will help society as a whole, and what steps can be taken to accomplish that might be an awesome step.
To an outside cynic, it would be far too easy to dismiss this as a chance for mostly white, mostly upper middle class people, to hang out, do / talk about drugs, and engage in cultural appropriation, while talking about how money isn't important, because a) they have enough of it not to worry about it, and b) they don't earn enough to be able to brag about it.
Obviously, there's more to it than that, but it would be awesome if this project actually brought about some real positive change in the real world.
take a look!

Results
I want to honor the intention of this idea. As Yodhe said above, though, there does seem to be a disconnect between meditating and having a goal for it. If we are going to focus on creating results, and I hope we will, then perhaps another form of collaboration and energy sharing could be more effective. Specifically, here is a summary of the collaborative approach I'm trying to establish, which I think could be embraced and developed by the Evolver community, or at least some members - and if so, it could also envelop the idea above rather than replace it.
We will create an online TV show that will be a live stream of multi-party video chat between at least three and up to eight people. Hosts, guests and audience participation will be via web cam, with those on the air shown simultaneously like the Brady Bunch. Audience members "calling in" would go through some type of screener and then have their video feed joined in. Shows would also be archived for future download. The point of the show is to facilitate real world community organizing and public service, and model cooperative communication strategies, behaviors, ethics and attitudes desirable in the society we are working together to create. The collaborative goals will be transparently presented and their achievement will define the success of the program. This is what I call advocacy journalism, which is the approach already in use at Manifest Positivity.
Peace,
Dave

Communal action in process
we can only plant seeds of change by communally sharing ideas and skills. I think everyone is doing a brilliant job and i'm very happy to be a part of such a wonderful transformation.
Communi-cation is the 'c' that goes before the transformation to communal action =)

Perhaps national Evolver spores could build up to this International Event in September... (I'll be helping on the West Coast)

Global Meditations
I like the idea of shared, ideally global meditations,
and know quite sure about the power of large numbers
of synchronized meditating people.
I came however across many projects
for global/community/group meditation,
and i think in the end this is diffusing the energy and effect,
since the (limiteted number of)
people ready and willing to participate
in actions like this are scattered in different projects
and thus not synchronized.
Therefore it might be helpful,
so not to fuel the process of fragmentation,
to evaluate, contact and collaborate with the existing projects,
before starting another one along the same lines, imho.
Some sites about global meditations I came along,
propably there are plenty more:
http://www.firethegrid.com
http://www.globalorgasm.org
http://www.healingexperiment.com
The next one is a Must See,
an academic project that found scientific backup
for the effects of different global states of consciousness,
and (claim to have) found ways to measure it
