I've been thinking about doing this for a while now so I might as well start now. Some of you may have followed my back story here on Evolver because from roughly September of 2010 to April of 2011 I was going through the last stages of a very dark time in my life.

It seems they seek to put an end
to anything unique
it seems they seek to manipulate
the voice we need to speak
it seems they seek to dig our graves
just below the surface
and if we choose to misbehave
they'll show us what our worth is

Because what is life to man
if not something in his hands
fulfill his demands
don't you know you're here to dance
just below the surface

Millions of citizens
Victims to big guns
Don't question decisions
Be prepared to make none
I'd rather be a criminal
Than any type of civil
Servant for the worse service
Stay wordless and nervous
Like the world behind the curtains
That clearly isn't working
For the people anyway
That are cluelessly betrayed
So certain of their world
And the result of their crusade

I've been away a while
taken the off course
down the less traveled road
on the days dark horse
with a black maned rider
full of nothing but desire
starring wide eyed
at the sunset's fire

Remembering a time
on the proper course
I was partnered in crime
with the common work force
it was a full time living
you'd do drugs to forget
starring wide eyed
down the rifle of the rent

I love my country
but it's lacking in character
the people are hungry
so God bless America

but they're lacking in intelligence
and what they do know
is hardly even relevant

To the social problems we're facing
like the races wars are erasing
or the quality of life
that the poor are embracing

This is hardly the world that I expected

Using life like a weapon
to battle the Armageddon
like our kamikaze brethren
killing cowards in seconds

Using religion like an instrument
with a pretty plan to implement
non-belief dismissed as ignorance
the world is full of simpletons

Using people for the politics
when it should be the opposite
our party lines are obvious
tyrants versus communists

We were on a long walk
in the park
in late March
when the lake started to break
parts of ice into wise men chanting

We started running
we weren't listening
we were disguised as guys
in touch with misery
full of lies with ties to every industry
corporate slime and crime

Like moments of despair conquered by virtue
they were only words engineered to hurt you
and this fallen man is like a fallen wallet
picked apart like you pick the pocket
