Think it out, don’t wait for evidence to imagine. When a thought arises, follow it out, all the way. Take that thought as far as your mind can see. Be in silence and work things through. It should hurt. Research the end result. Remember that thinking inside our current parameters creates our current paradigm.
Speak to every man. If every man understands you, you’re an enigma. If only your peers understand you, you’re using language to conceal the truth.
Break it down.
When you work with the undereducated, educate them in deed. Let them work beside you. If kindly given a chance to be your equal, many will strive to be. This process is slow. It will hurt.
If you can’t find a path in life, seek out ways to help others. A new path will quickly open up for you. There are many ways to help others in your immediate existence.
One way is not to give to charities but to set aside that money just the same, and give to people you come across who need things. When I have an excess of funds, I will buy things for you, if you are nice to me. I am richly rewarded for reasons I don’t always understand, and find that giving freely keeps an open flow of income. Money is my river and it flows my way.
Another way to start is to educate oneself on poverty, and the reasons it perpetuates. Where do you see poverty in your area? What could you do with your current resources to improve any aspect of anybody’s life? (Like that video of the guys with the bridge!) Is somebody’s beautiful deck falling down every day when you drive by, and you’re a carpenter? Go ask them if they would like you to fix the deck.
What can you do given your current resources to meet what small part of any of your goals? Access it, pull it out, get it ready. Call everyone you know and ask them to help you with whatever that is. You have exponentially more available for action than you think you do.
One day I decided I wanted to be in a band, so I went to the store where I bought my guitar the year before and asked the guy at the counter if he knew anyone who wanted a girl singer for a band. He said that he and his band did. Voila! I was once in a band. Check!
What’s on your list? What do you want to accomplish in your life before you die? Have you ever made one out?
Just make progress, be creative, be progressive, proactive even. And then tell us how it goes.
That would be awesome.

stop playing the game, E. sam
A famous psychologist (who's name currently evades my memory) once said that 90% of all social interaction is the topdog/underdog game, in which two (or more) engaging parties work not to enrich the other or gain some kind of benefit, but simply to situate themselves atop the egoistic throne of dominance.
I'm not sure if I can agree that the figure is really as high as 90%, and have no idea how that number was even generated, but E. Sam's line, "Education is only possible when someone is genuinely willing to listen and learn, and when another is genuinely willing to listen and teach" really reminded me of this psychological social theory...
by admitting that you simply nodded your head and attempted to suppress a laugh, but did not truly consider what the people were saying to you makes it seem very obvious why they might not have listened in return...
you said it yourself that one must have been willing to Listen and teach for education to be possible, but were you really listening?
perhaps these interactions havnt always gone well for you because both parties involved already had their minds made up before it began, them with their "spiritual bullshit", and you with your chaos theory-
both already thought that they knew more than the other to begin the discussion, and neither party truly listened.
i have certainly fallen prey to my own ego many times, and had entire conversations without once TRULY considering what the other person said, but instead just trying to argue my own beliefs, and it is not something that can be solved over night,
but just remember that it only takes one party to stop playing a game for the game to end..
peace

we should all listen to each other
Thank you E. Sam for reminding me of the existence of the word "egregious" - it is a lovely word, has a nice swing to it.
"Is it just that I am noticing more credulous people than I used to, or is it that there are more of them to notice?"
I am a social scientist of a sort, and I can assure you that according to contemporary statistics this is not the case. People has just to a large extent kept on believing. I think that what you see is more a consequence of more people being, or at least feeling, more informed, as well as free and safe enough to feel that they dare ask their own questions and make their own reflections.
Sir Roger Penrose said to me in an interview once:
- We are far, far away from a "theory of everything" and those who claim anything else simply do not know what they are talking about.
I do not say that you believe that science has a theory of everything, but I want to make a point here:
since we do not "scientifically know" everything - we are not even close - it is completely rational for people to question science and figure out their own beliefs.
One of my favourite contemporary philosophers is late Sören Halldén, professor of theoretical philosophy at the University of Lund in Sweden, where I studied for a year back in 1998. Amongst other things he had a background in studying History of science and ideas, and he was a true lover but also fierce critic of science and above all what he experienced as a very destructive authoritarian culture in scientific institutions - like his own university.
In one of his last radio interviews - he passed on earlier this year - he talked about the importance for a professor to remember than no matter how much one knows, one has to remember that even a professor does not know her/his subject. And, as a matter of fact - suddenly a student can come with a question or a suggestion that will change all you thought you knew.
In short: I thank you for sharing your truly amazing knowledge on science, especially physics and maths here - please have patience and mercy with us laymen in your area of expertise,
and please remember that we might even really have something to teach you - even in your field where you "know" more - I mean, who knows =)?
Even "just" the right question can sometimes be a little miracle...
I don't think that we have
I don't think that we have moved into a more unskeptical age actually, I think it's more the opposite. It's too obvious that we don't know anything, and skepticism has lead to this revelation.
But something that I believe has been built up in the human psyche is the idea that we need something to believe. I've taken a bit of a different angle to this though. What feels good to me to believe? And then I run with that, at least until it doesn't feel good to believe it anymore. There have been studies done that show psychic power works and studies that show it doesn't. There are prominent scientists that argue for Intelligent design and that argue for evolution... Really I could point out a number of examples, but in the end it doesn't matter, because we really don't know anything.
Perception is what makes our reality. There are 6 billion different perceptions on this planet, and I'm willing to bet that all of them will change as well at some point in time.
Shit happens, humans perceive it, then we form a belief out of it.
I don't know anything, and neither does anyone else, all that matters is what goods for us to believe.
Just remember that when your skeptical enough nothing makes sense.

A good idea I found lately
A good idea I found lately is called "Model Agnosticism". Basically it is not falling in love with a certain belief because it will soon change. Also I think it is good to always have thesis-antithesis to any point of view then synthesis is possible. It is up to the student to synthesis the different points of view. Once we get better at programming our perception maybe we can change consensus reality? To me "psychic powers" simply have to do with the inside/outside barrier or the Territory circuit. Are you familiar with the imprint triggers? Using a simplified version of this concept, we can think of the primary imprint triggers as: 1) Security, 2) Territory, 3) Intellect, and 4) Social. Each lower one is connected to a higher trigger: 5) Pleasure, 6) Psychic, 7) Mythic, 8) Cosmic Consciousness, 9) Spirit or as Chapel Perilous is related to all other ones. So you must master you 2nd one Territory before your 6th one Psychic can be triggered.

Yeah I've been down that
Yeah I've been down that rabbit hole with RAW. Kind of what got me to none of us know anything, but that doesn't matter anyways, because we will always believe something.
Have you been down this
Have you been down this rabbit hole? http://www.sangraal.com/library/gnomon.htm
Ya I love RAW. I'm trying to digest Angel tech thoroughly.

Angel Tech was good. That
Angel Tech was good.
That link is interesting, but once again it looks as though they maybe be putting out another belief system as "the" belief system. I didn't read all of it, just glanced for now, I will check it out more thoroughly soon.

I really didn't mean for
I really didn't mean for that to come across as condescending- I should have been more carful with my wording...
You seem to have an immense amount of wisdom and knowledge about life and reality, and i agree with you that there are a lot of people out there with brains full of shit, who will try and convince you that a brick of cheese is a brick of gold, or something along those lines...
the point i was trying to get across though, is exemplified perfectly by that james randi link that you posted
he obviously has an extremely good point when he talks about the farcical idea of psychics and whatnot, but will he ever convince a single professional psychic that their powers do not exists? no-
and yes, there are those who know that they are scamming people, but there are also many who have deceived themselves into believing.
his problem, is that instead of engaging in respectful dialogue with these people, he calls them out in a stone cold, aggressive manner. while he may be doing this because he feels that they deserve no leniency whatsoever, there are many cases in which people have been misguided and need to be helped out with empathetic, kind conversation.
i've run across this many times in my life when discussing religion with some christians who think that Jesus is the ONLY way to escape eternal damnation, or that the world WAS made in 6 segments of 24 human hours.
while there are always those who takes the richard dawkins approach and launch a full-out assault of well-thought out arguments, that tends to cause those people to cover their ears (figuratively) and completely stop listening- the same way that you would if someone claimed that they hadnt eaten for seven years because of their knowledge of energy...
what i was trying to say is simply that the best way to TRULY help those people understand, and to initiate productive conversation is if you respectfully ease into touchy subjects and instead of disproving, just offer alternate perspectives.
Yes, there will always be those whose views will never, ever, ever change, but the dawkins style arguments will be equally unheard by them as their bullshit will be to you...
i was only saying that if you want those misguided, credulous people to listen to you (because i agree that you DO have some very important things to share), then you have to give them that same, genuine respect- even if they are trying to say that a piece of cheese is a piece of gold...
its the only way to help them, and you know as well as i do, that they DEFINITELY need to be helped.

Addressing the Pillars of the Thoughts
But haven't we been trying that for ages? Has it been working?
I have strong sympathy for your position, but I increasingly see it as a dead end, having tried it so often.
It's caused me to really think about how it is that people move in and out of perspectives, worldviews, etc.,.
I think that when you're interacting with (a someone) of a radically different perspective, you have near-zero chance of "getting through," because they're not in a place of getting through. It is true that, in several years, they may be able to remember and piece it together, but I have begun to think that that may be true of only a portion of the people: For the remainder, the subject is not high priority enough for them.
I am thinking that it is the pillars of the thought system that are important, not the general populace. As the pillars change, the people will follow, because people distribute their thinking.
Is meaning provable?
Some have built giant rockets on instinct with their ancestor's collective wealth of knowledge and punch triumphant holes in the outer atmosphere. Others have carefully tended snails and mushrooms and fishery ecologies in incommunicably holistic wealthy ways. It's time for these two camps to speak of their verrry first impressions of childhood magic, from before social roles and other inherited abuses. They need each other now more than can be written. There's a giant Oil spill happening here, now (Which I can't even look at news of, without heaving into a prehensile posture of nearing tears before recollecting my heroic self).

We mention this dire event to politely make you aware of time. Chiron has entered Pisces upon the same day this event originated. Chiron will remain in Pisces until June 20th of this year before retreating again into Aquarius. Let's revisit this conversation at that time. Note that Chiron subsequently dives into Pisces for eight years following it's brief retrograde in Aquarius. Note also that Astrology is commonly referred to as the ancestor of science. Those of you who are planting new crops this season and hope for the best first time since technology began, had prolly better remap your clock time to the phases of the moon for increased loco-global success. Food for future thoughts.
