My own room.

I am without a room to call my own. I own very few things now - just some clothes, and a few electronic devices. I am confronted by a nagging fear moment to moment; but simultaneously I have this more refined sense of appreciation. Only now can I reflect in ways and see that I have not before.
I still carry this fear with me though: being a nobody. The saigitarrius that wanders. A man that needs to set realistic goals, economic goals, not ecological ones.
"The easiest way to get back in touch with nature is to lose your ego."
Masanobu Fukuoka.
And this is a central root. Some of us choose to put our roots down, others choose to wander. I have chosen to wander. Nevertheless, I am still in the world, I am still a human being on earth.
Like those that have come before, I recognize this problem of ownership is one we are confronted with as we become greater stewards of the environment. Our conceptions of work are shifting as well. Just because I don't get paid for something doesn't mean it isn't valuable and working.
As in the I Ching it says, to rule truly is to serve.
And to rule, I believe is to be in touch seek out ecological principles. The greatest metaphors come from nature: interrelatedness, the food-chain, biodiversity, climate change.
Without a room, I spend much more time outside, soaking up microclimates around me. And more prone to action. Just the other day, I was able to plant ground cover in a local tree spit with another community member.
So as we recondition ourselves, and we look at the economy from multiple lenses, we can also look at community, and ownership from a more earthly persepctive. I am only an infant in this new life stage, and I relinquish fear to curiosity and more wonder, and more work.

Are you seeking approval on
Are you seeking approval on your new mode of being? You shouldn't need it. If you find that it makes you feel alive, then soak that up. Love it. Congrats and all but this box you're on has as much possibility of grasping you BY THE BALLS than some extraneous material possessions. I know, I know.....we're all here because the great internet god has breathed community into the desolate, isolated, community hungry culture the nuclear family has made us. Still, beware.
hey that's awesome
thanks for sharing! Maybe if you kept something on or nearby you constantly that meant a lot to you, it could serve as a grounding, as a rooting, like an anchor. Maybe an instrument or a necklace or a book or even a new tattoo of some sort. Just a thought. It's always good I feel to have an external anchor of some sort that means a lot to you, to ground the outer to your inner, so you don't feel like you're just blowing around in the wind.
any rate, keep us updated! take care.
