What to Watch For: Red Skies, Yellow Mist, and Purple Whirlwinds

Like a lot of people at this odd moment in history I find myself wondering if we are really heading towards something new and amazing and unbelievable or is TSHF and are we about to experience a global meltdown economically, politically, spiritually, etc. Often these days it feels as if reality is fracturing, and I do agree with the many voices I've heard that the most important thing we can do is stay true to our path or hold our highest vision as we actively create the new world we are in the midst of. Perhaps the simplest explanation is that both of the above are happening, we are in the midst of a total meltdown and that meltdown is necessary before we can take the steps we need to to create a new more sustainable, more human world.

However...there are a few things that I keep in the back of my mind at this time. These are valuable kernels of wisdom that have come from different sources that I feel need to be shared with others during this time of transition.

Along the path I have walked, I have been unusually blessed to have had access to some very, very powerful spiritual teachers and traditions. And some of those teachers and traditions left very specific instructions around signs that we should watch for.

For instance, a Lakota holy man who had grown up far removed from the reservation schools and white culture that I was fortunate enough to spend a fair bit of time with spoke of coming earth changes. Fortunately, he was also specific about that we should beware of a "Yellow Mist or Gas" that would come to us from China or somewhere in Asia. This would herald the start of serious disruptions in the natural world.

Another lineage I have been connected to is related to an Apache teacher who spoke of 4 different distinct signs that will happen. Three of the four have happened, and he said that after the third sign had passed the only way we could prevent the fourth and the disintegration of human society was through spiritual ways and practices. He also said that the fourth sign would be the skies turning red both during the day and night (at night the stars would appear red). This would last for up to a year. If the skies turn red, then the instructions are to flee to the deep wilderness and use your survival skills to build a new society far from the remains of "civilization".

Finally, another teacher has had a vision of a purple tornado or whirlwind that would blow across different communities. Those who dance or move with this whirlwind are able to survive and thrive. Those who can't are broken by their rigidness. This teacher believes that the purple whirlwind is happening now.

So, I'm transforming my backyard into a suburban homestead, encouraging my hometown to seriously look at the Transition movement, and deepening my spiritual practice. Yet, I am also keeping a watch out for Yellow Mists and Red Skies, while I dance with a Purple Whirlwind!
