The Agent's Manual derives form the experience of introducing Social Media- or Enterprise 2.0-basics in big corporations.
It is a kind of counter thesis to Laissez-Faire-approaches that have been around for a while ("Die Kunst, loszulassen"): It's fine if managers feel comfortable with letting things go - but does that get something started?
We do not only need visions, spaces and potential, if you deal with innovation, knowledge and excellence, we mainly need people who want to seize opportunities in their daily jobs, who consider themselves to be active and who want to get things done.
It is wrong to focus on managers and consultants; if you want to enjoy the benefits of social media and openness in your corporation, you need to put the focus on people.
The Agent's Manual describes the basics you need to see yourselves in the active position, and it shows how the most common passivity-traps can be transformed into empowering activity boosters.
The tools and the business cases have been around for a while - but we still need to work on the mindshift.
Here is where I am preparing a talk on it; there's also a video available.
