Let me kill your idea of love, and make you love mine

Let's take a look at love, the cliché we know and need.
Used to be hearts and doves, now it's the absence of greed.
Your love is unlike mine, but we both feel the same.
We'll hide it in our minds, won't even play the game.
Love should be something we hide from, never searched for or sought.
Cause as soon as you try to decide them, the story strays from the plot.
You want to connect with people, you don't want to die alone.
So you throw yourself into a deep hole, and live your life in stone.
Stuck in one place trying, forgetting how it started.
Until one of you is dying, by love you've been outsmarted.
I don't want to discourage, cause I know love is real.
But why test your endurance, denying how you feel.
Your age is not an hourglass, and your friends should be enough.
But solo while the hours pass, sure does make it tough.
Don't let this make you crack down, it's not necessity.
But be prepared to back down, just like the rest of me.
Get invested. Give your all, and hope that they will too.
It will make you big or small, and you'll find out the truth.
Without love we're all dead, and never would exist.
But I can't get it through my head, us humans; we resist.
