We cannot allow governments to censor the internet. There are bills that would allow government censorship over the internet being debated in multiple nations including the U.S., U.K., and Austrailia. They are moving with this legislation very swiftly and quietly. I fear if people don’t get involved in this soon it will be too late. They are trying to convince people that these laws are meant to cut down piracy online & protect people from scams, but some of this legislation would go as far as requiring internet service providers to keep track of the websites individuals visit & material they download. The bill in the U.K. has been dubbed the Digital Economy Bill, but does very little for the economy & alot for expanding government control over the internet. The web is one of the only great freedoms we have right now & we cannot allow political leaders to take that from us. The U.S. version is called the cybersecurity act.. Why can these politicians not leave well enough alone? What is it thats so wrong with the internet these days? I don’t often hear people complaining about it.
