Is Meditation That Simple?

Meditation is simply a means of becoming aware of the Present Moment. And once you have found out what your own Now Presence feels like through practice, you can go there in any instant. In fact, the more you go there the more it becomes your natural state so that you are less and less caught up in the head, and more in more intensely aware of the Present.

No Thingness

If there were no space, there could be no room. The room is much more than the walls or the ceiling and floor. The most important part of the room is the emptiness that makes the room possible. The emptiness is the most useful part. The emptiness, the no thingness of the vase makes it useful. Without the no thingness of space the universe itself could not exist.

Be Still and Know...or A Return To Innocence

We were born with internal silence. We did not know words for some time after we were born. In the beginning we had no thoughts informing us about anything. We made no judgments. We didn't know our name, or who or what we were. We just were. We had nothing but still awareness and wordless wonder as we looked out from behind our eyes. We were one with the awareness.

Finding Peace of Mind and Joy...or The Zen of Cats

Funny how we accept things as true just because its in the News without knowing for ourselves the truth of the thing. Its not easy to remain objective when all the news media are bombarding us with only one side of the story. True enough though, where there is smoke there is usually fire. But then again, there was a lot of smoke around some of the tallest, brightest figures to walk this earth.

Judge Not The Drive-by Critic

Did you ever notice that some people just love to criticize. Now don't get me wrong, it is important to point out fault in another, at the right time and in a right way. This is a part of love. Would you not tell your friend who's going to a job interview that his fly was open and that he had bad breath?

Speak Your Truth Boldly But...

Have you ever seen two kids in a school yard taunting each other?

"My Dad's bigger than your Dad" No he's not. Yes he is. No he's not. Yes, he is.
No he's not. Yes he is. No he's not. Yes he is....

It's looks childish...because it is.

Such children think that if they can out shout the other they will win.

The truth has a way of winning of its own accord.

Mindfulness, Awareness and Dumb Luck

Here is an interesting little exchange between a man and Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power of Now:

Tolle: Let me ask you this: can you be free of your mind whenever you want to? Have you found the "off" button?

Man: You mean stop thinking altogether? No, I can't, except maybe for a moment or two.

"Banish the word 'struggle' from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we have been waiting for." — Hopi elders

About Me

Bio

Things I've learned:

Daily life is Spiritual Exercise. Everyday presents opportunities to learn to be unmoved emotionally to temptation of all kinds. An unkind word, the rude driver, the thoughtlessness of others are all opportunities to extend love, patience and forgiveness to the unconsciousness of others. Looking for those opportunities keeps me quite busy.

One can never be disappointed if one has no expectations. Aside from taking care of business perhaps, this policy is a great source of inner peace. Especially in relationship with others.

Life flows and unfolds as it should. There is only pain, anxiety and loss of peace when I try to make life bend to my desires. Zen says craving and wanting are the cause of all suffering. I have learned the truth of this the hard way. There is lasting and growing peace, joy and contentment when we allow life to lead the way.

"Krisnmurti once asked his surprised audience "“Do you want to know what my secret is?”. Everyone sat up and became immensely alert because here was one of the great spiritual teachers of the 20th century and he was about to tell them his secret. Krishnamurti in a soft spoken voice said “You see, I don’t mind what happens”. This was astonishing to many, it seemed too simple. But is it? You will just have to try it yourself to know the truth of it.
