Blogging To The Choir

As I read the blogs here, I see a trend of discussion that tries in one manner or another, to get a handle on groups versus individuals in regard to bringing our choices and actions on this planet to a higher plane of awareness, accountability and sustainability.
It's a good topic to discuss. Yet one of the difficulties is that we here on Evolver, in one way or another belong to the same choir. Some sing Bass while other's soprano. But the orchestration, melody and harmonies are the same and we sing them in a cathedral called Earth.
But not everyone in cathedral Earth belong to or sing in the choir. The choir is the group, trying to influence and unify Earth's complete congregation.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of Opera, I like Jazz, and there in lies the problem of communicating the message. To gather in all the diverse experience and knowledge and awareness brought forth here and have it be effective enough to influence the whole congregation, the congregation must first possess an open mind. So before the message can be given, the mind must be opened. Large order for a minority choir and it's not going to happen with only one hymn or at one gathering.
How do we open the minds of the congregation in the cathedral Earth?
Listening and acknowledging the other people's situations and beliefs is a good starting point toward nurturing an open mind and on the surface, seems simple to do.
But little things like envy, greed, fear, ego, also circulate within the cathedral. The definitions and experiences of these things must be adjusted before openness can be achieved. These combined with a little thing like conflict and a larger thing like war and all of it wrapped neatly up in the pretty packaging of profits and it seems that there is more than one group in the cathedral. The choir sings but no one listens.
Where do we start? Who or what do we change first? Does the choir itself have an open mind? And where does the money from the collection plate go?
What the congregation seems to miss is the fact that cathedral Earth's sermon continues anyway, whether anyone is listening or not. It's not the congregation that affects this cathedral, it's the other way around.
I'm more of this school of thought, "What do you call a leader without followers? An individual." Some might suggest the answer to that question is "a loner," but I would suggest they are missing the point. All the individuals whether in groups or not are all grouped within Earth. We don't have to form groups, we already belong to a group. Maybe understanding that macro concept is a good starting point for developing a global open mind.
I've "joined" Evolver to offer my experiences and belief to an open minded "choir". Will it change anything? I don't know, I'm here to listen and share ideas. If anything, for my part, I hope to inspire others to ask questions, seek alternative answers and gain a greater understanding of the power of individual choice.
Now if only I could sing in tune...
