My friend, my shadow,
Who's only desire is to take my breath away with his embrace,
To envelope my life with the shadows of infinity,
My friend, my shadow, he never leaves my side,

He reminds me of the transience of this world,
His presence is strong, yet he nurtures fragility,
He desires the stillness between each heart beat,
Between each breath of life, my friend, my shadow,

He dances with me every step of my journey,
As I travel closer to his world every unfolding day,
My friend, my shadow, lurks on every corner,
Waiting for the perfect moment to embrace my body,
To kiss my spirit passionately, to make love to my soul,

My friend, my shadow, with me every moment,
He caresses me, like the wind, increasing his touch,
As I become his domain, he promises infinity for my soul,
Impermanence to my form, my friend, my shadow
He whispers in my ear that my life is borrowed,

He sings the poetry of silence, of isolation,
Of the sacredness of life,
My friend, my shadow,
He tells me he is the space between the stars, sun and moon,
He is the keeper of souls, my friend, my shadow.

He drinks and feasts on life and love,
He promises tears, heart ache and loneliness to those left behind,
He promises the unknown to those he steals away,
Then he returns to offer for us to follow,

He paints a canvas of unseen colors,
His masterpiece is only understood by the formless,
His music is only heard by the soul traveller,
Who has long forgotten the colors and music of this world
He loves me dearly, he promises my spirit eternity,
My friend, my shadow,
The end of every story, the beginning of every life.

sacredness of life and death

western culture seems to see death as a negative thing, when in fact it ought to be seen as a transformatory sacred process, the same as how those in the east see death. This is more of a reality to some than others perhaps but it is not a negative thing, we have to embrace death to really fully respect and understand the sacredness of life!

I personally have had some really profound transformation after surviving several near death experiences.

It's interesting that you

It's interesting that you posted this, because earlier I was just thinking that if we want to transform our culture, we should transform our language, which not only creates our culture but reality itself. And I was thinking, specifically, that instead of using the words "die" and "death," perhaps we should use the word "transition."

Boadie- couldnt agree more, very insightful

Exactly, death is just a transition, i've been out of my body several times to other dimensions due to near death experiences and outer body experiences, our bodies are sacred, physical life is sacred but death is really the birth of the soul into the non-physical dimensions, or the souls return to the non-physical, the Tibetan Buddhists realise this along with many other eastern religions....the problem with us in the west is we continuously see it as negative, we are afraid to talk about it openly...and that is what i felt with when i first posted this and it seemed it was taken down rather quickly......

Language is highly powerful for forming new perceptions and breaking away from old paradigms, i was very excited at your comment for this as actually im exploring the very same meme, i have someone i will be talking to about using and developing a new language to connect with other dimensions, you might like to read a book, I recommend you read it , i think you will enjoy it: by Marko Pogacnik called Sacred Geography, geomancy:co-creating the earth cosmos, its about creating a language that can be used to connect to invisible dimensions and to other creatures, without human language which is very limited reflecting our also limited 5 senses of perception, we need to acknowledge that the human eye doesn't see everything, for example Trevor James Constable was the first to photograph huge jellyfish type beings that float round in our atmosphere and in space in the ultraviolet spectrum and infrared spectrum, after which NASA developed cameras for outer space to do the same, only to discover more of these creatures teaming in space....so our other senses do not perceive everything in the scope of universal reality, every creature has its experience of reality through its physical sensory system, and all are incredibly specialised and different.

i re posted this, because i felt that its a very sacred thing that i'm attempting to share, this poem i wrote at 4am the other morning, it woke me up infact, i was downloading it from higher frequencies, yet i felt it had been degraded despite a few positive feedback, perhaps i am assuming that it was taken down rather fast because people are scared to talk about death when it is a huge part of living..

Tugging my heart strings

I too have a friend, a shadow. He was the most important person to me in this life, other than my son, and will be in every life I live from here to eternity. This is beautiful.
