Atheism, a Belief?

Some posts on Myspace recently have inspired me to write for example, someone wrote about Atheism and how we are all basically atheists in one way or another, for example, the days of the week were named after Greek gods, but do we follow the traditions of all of them? Most likely not. But we all have some kind of beliefs and faith, no matter what we may call ourselves. Anyway, basically i said that even if one is a so-called 'Atheist' they still believe in something, even if it's that there is no God. That is a belief. In fact, it is not possible to believe in NOTHING. The closest thing to that would be a NIHILIST, but even a Nihilist believes in NOTHING! Nothingness is a belief of a nihilist. And also this: "Nihilism: a viewpoint that traditional values and beliefs are unfounded and that existence is senseless and useless." Oh, what a futile existence that would be! to believe that everything is senseless and useless..
Also even a scientist has to have some sort of faith or belief to put forth a theory and experiment on it and prove it, a scientist has to have 'belief' and faith to keep going. The writer of the blog goes on to say however that 'atheism' is certainly not a religion which has rituals and sacred traditions and belief in a divine authority. And also that a belief system is not the same thing, that atheism is not a belief. Could be. I have also read and agree that any kind of belief is where we get into trouble, for it puts us in a box and makes us susceptible to these things:
prepossession - suggests a fixed conception likely to preclude objective judgment of anything counter to it .
prejudice usually implies an unfavorable prepossession and connotes a feeling rooted in suspicion, fear, or intolerance .
bias implies an unreasoned and unfair distortion of judgment in favor of or against a person or thing .
Whenever we do have a belief, we are predisposed towards that one reality and any other realities tend to get focused out.
It's like this, whatever one calls oneself, or whatever one 'believes' there are certain inalienable Universal Laws that no matter what, we cannot break, unless of course we know how to bend the laws of the Universe! But that would require supernatural powers, now wouldn't it..? Well I say this, if you dropped something from a cliff, it is going to keep falling until it hits the ground. For it is following the Law of Gravity. Whether you believe in that or not, it will happen. It does not require a belief in a divine power or authority, but only a knowing, and a sort of faith that the item will hit the ground. Second, there are certain spiritual laws that we may not be able to sense with our limited five senses, but that does not make them any less viable. Those we cannot 'see' as readily as the law of gravity at work require spiritual discernment, but just because we cannot 'see' them does not mean they are not at work. But again, does that require a 'belief?' No not really, only we must still adhere to the Universal Laws at work to be able to function best in this reality, whether spiritual or material, although the world is made up of both.
