Greetings fellow Evolvers. I need ideas on what to do with kilo's of used coffee grounds and stacks of old newspaper. Any and all ideas are very much appreciated. Combining the 2 to create eco friendly goods would be even better. Put on yer thinkin caps. I am searching for business models to help fund a community garden in the foothills of NorCal. Get wild!

Compost

Used coffee grounds are apparently rich in nitrogen and good for compost. If your planning a community garden this could be ideal. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/07/080707171641.htm

good luck with whatever you choose to do. :)

Its got me thinking actually, as we are planning community gardens too and there must be so much used coffee getting wasted from all the coffee shops. Ideas are brewing! ;)

Ideas

Hey, I have been thinking about finding a way to mix the used grounds and the paper with possibly a bit of wax to create an eco friendly fire log? I imagine it would take a hydraulic press to press the logs into log shape. I am willing and open to try new things. The community garden is an absolutely amazing thing because people from young to old love to help out and it is a wonderful place to gather for tea, coffee and good conversation. It gives kids something great to do and they love watching the things they plant grow plus it keeps em outta trouble. The only way WE as a nation can get past this craziness is to go back to basics. Thanks for responding.
Peace, K.
