IcerocketThis past weekend marked the first ceremony of the Santo Daime Church in Vancouver BC as far as I am aware. Two days of ceremony occurred with about 50 participants. It is still fresh and hard to put into words but my main interest for now is to point to the beautiful gift I experienced of collective shamanism and the way that these prayers are being shared with the planet and all who suffer. In contrast to my experience in a Shipibo tradtion the Santo Daime experience was much more about doing the "work" and eliminating thoughts to enter the divine. While I would not deny the profound healing from the former ceremony, the latter was much more connected to the entire human race and celestial realms for me and I have nothing but total respect for the transmission of this work.
Very interested to hear from other Evolvers about this topic of collective shamanism.

A friend mentioned attending a Daime ceremony in Vancouver recently, and I have listening intently for more information regarding local ceremonies.
I am very interested in peeling and shedding layers of my consciousness to reveal my true path and reality; Daime appeals to me in this manor.
I have a judgment with the structured and brightly lit setting of the Vancouver ceremonies described to me though, resonating much more with the darkly lit, circular ceremonies I have seen video of, in South America and such. Although I understand in part, that the structured environment is necessary to isolate the individual so they may undergo transformation uninterrupted by the touch and proximity of others.
Can you describe the setting of the ceremony, as well as your experiences further?

I live in Vancouver and just returned from a trip to the amazon. I had heard about the church over there and am surprised and happy there is a community in my city. Any information on the location?
Collective shamanism

I have been working with the Santo Daime in the UK now for 18 months.. The design of the Santo Daime resonates with me very well, for both the personal and communal journey is provided by the sacrament.
I feel this communal shamanic work vital for planetary healing for our individual healing light is accentuated when in service together i.e. the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
I do regard the Santo Daime as work (it is commonly called 'trabalho' meaning work in Brazilian Portuguese), for I have often experienced difficult passages deeply rooted in the collective human consciousness.
I understand the apprehension to the structure and the light, however, just as usual in ayahuasca ceremony, surrender completely to the divine force of the sacrament and all apprehension fades away :)
Glad to hear of the establishment of Vancouver SD, nearly a year old!

I'd like to know if there are regular or occasional ceremonies anywhere in Vancouver or the West coast?
