Has anyone ever looked through The Atlas of Mind, Body, and Spirit?
It's really a fantastic overview of the crossroads between modern biology and the ancient belief systems of Native Americans, Indians, Africans, and others.
Every page is a different topic: Indian yoga, Kabbalah, shamanism, the Alexander Technique, and other forms of alternative/complementary medicine that aren't yet fully recognized in the West.
Other pages focus more on modern science - how stress in the nervous system works, health, aging, and also how organs, nerves, bones, and muscles connect in the body (along the meridian lines and chakras used in ancient therapies).
The book is very "interconnected," to say the least. It is an overview of a wide range of subjects. It also includes absolutely stunning illustrations and visualizations on every page (which makes it a great book for the coffee table).
When I first found it at Barnes and Noble it was like $35-40 dollars and I thought it was well worth the price. Now Amazon is offering it for less than 6 dollars! I seriously couldn't believe it when I first saw it.
I'm now tempted to pick up another copy for some friends on Xmas. The book is too big to be a stocking stuffer, but it is well worth checking out:
Anyone own it? What did you guys think? It doesn't go into any one topic too in-depth, but as a general overview for different belief systems and medical practices it is a great find (and well-worth browsing through on rainy Sundays).
