Community: A Look At Göttingen & Los Alamos

“What I do see more clearly now is the prime agent of victory. He who bears in his heart a cathedral to be built is already victorious. He who seeks to become sexton of a finished cathedral is already defeated. Victory is the fruit of love. Only love can say what face shall emerge from the clay. Only love can guide man towards that face. Intelligence is only valid as it serves love.”

About Me

Bio

I am currently working on my masters in European history and plan on going into the field of education. I hope to reform the education system which breeds ignorance, blind accpetance/obedience, and shallow thinking. My major hopes for education is to strengthen people's critical thinking skills, push human evolution, compassion, respect, and acceptance, while encouraging hands on self-exploration. We are all wild animals in spirit, we deny our savage side and claim to be civilized, however the magnitude of war, enviromental destruction, and cruelty to humans and animals show that we are not nearly as civilized as we pretend. We need to not only openly admit this side of us in all of us but create proper and safe expression and outlets to channel this energy inside of us. It is something that will always be a part of us, instead of repression and denial we need to confront it and deal with it. This is something that needs to be addressed in the education system as well I believe. The education system also needs to foster positive personal and communal growth. As humans we all desire freedom to live our lives the way we individually see fit, but somehow most people think everyone must think the way they do. I hope to foster acceptance and respect for others lifestyles, beliefs, and preferences. No one has the right to tell another what to think, feel, or say as long as they are not causing physical harm. This is something that needs to be vigerously pursued in the education system. And lastly, I want to transform the teacher/student relationship from the absolute authority of the teacher to a position of mutual learning and respect. We need kind supportive mentors not authoritarian all knowing (which is impossible!!) complicit brain-washers. In short I want to empower my students with the infinite beauty of their true selves and the universe.
