Meister Eckhart, on 'life without why'

Why do you love God? - I don't know, because of God. - Why do you love truth? - Because of truth. - Why do you love justice? - Because of justice. - Why do you love the good? - Because of the good. - Why do you live? - Forsooth! I don't know! But I am happy to live.

Of the importance of participating in idle chatter and the cosmic giggle,

Of the importance of participating in idle chatter
and the cosmic giggle,

~

Of the meaning of sense
and the sense of meaning ,
the synchronicity of meaning -
the meaning of the "right time"
and the opportunity of an opening...

What is this sense of the sense of the world?

A pre-conceptual logic of manifestation,
a schematism?
What is its sense? How does it seem?

Indefinite conceptions

Indefinite conceptions upon
indefinite conceptions upon
finite experiences
of successive
modifying determinations
in a
perpetual motion machine
of infinite desire
without an opposite
chain links
upon links of
indefinite conceptions.

The Echos of Her Absence

The Echoes of Her Absence

Sacred hearts of the meek,

they shall inherit the blessed,

and the briar the rose,

Sings her bust, a velvet flame -

haphazard, vagabond -

through subterranean oil-fires.

Immersed in blueberry mist,

salty to the tongue

but such sweet revery

To the ears, soft particles

of sound alight the hum

About Me

Bio

Was born in San Diego. Was raised in the woodlands of Northwestern New Jersey. Ran away to Seattle when was 19 with first love. Moved to New York in 2003 and have been here since.
Am an avid reader of philosophy, fiction, science, history, social criticism.
Write poetry when the mood strikes me. Other times, play classical piano and folk guitar.
Love to cook for people, and to eat! Try hand at botany, with varying degrees of success.
Am currently working towards a PhD in philosophy at the New School for Social Research in New York. Focusing primarily on 20th century continental philosophy, in particular, phenomenology, although have profound love for thinkers throughout the tradition, notably, Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Bruno, Bergson, Deleuze, Ravaisson and many others!
Recently emerged from protracted depression. Incredibly inspired, open, and, oddly, happy these days.
Excited as to what the future may bring.
