I'm planning on shooting a documentary on evolvers throughout the world, people who have decided to create and alternative way of living for themselves. The documentary will be a quest to my own personnal evolution and a change in the way I pursue my own life.

I'm not sure were to start but I know that I recently been laid off my job. My contract expires on the 31st of July, just one month before my long planned to trip to Burning Man.

The "normal" process would be to find another job...but I'm thinking now might be the right time to engage in what is really needed, my personnal evolution towards something different and a contribution to the evolution of human kind.

I have in my head this idea of filming a trip that would take me through intentional communities and eco-villages accross the world. The aim would be to show the beauty (litterally) of these lifestyles and how un-borring they are compared to traditionnal "entertainment" provided by TV, video games, the internet, etc...the emphasis would be on youth to break the stereotype of evolvers being 50-60 year old neo-hippies.

The idea is still fresh but I can visualise it quite clearly. I know that the clearer the image gets, the closer I will be to realising that project (thanks quantum physics), however I need some hints on were to start.

Give me your thoughts to feed mine and this alone will help the realisation of this project.

For those who wonder white kind of filming I did so far, check out my work on vimeo: http://www.vimeo.com/vinceslas

Thanks guys ;)

go with the flow

I really like what you filmed in Vietnam and South Africa. You definitely have the talent to show how beautiful life can be in intentional communities.

I lived in a large intentional community, Twin Oaks Community, for seven years, and I think it would be a great place for you to film, but now that I see you live in Europe, maybe start with ZEGG. You could plan out all your destinations very methodically, but since you're still trying to visualize the project, and you like to film atmospheric shots at a gentle pace, maybe you would prefer to start in one community such as ZEGG or Svanholm or Christiania or Twin Oaks, and have no preconceived idea where you will be going next. Just talk to people and listen to their suggestions. You could just go with the flow and follow a trail of personal recommendations into the unknown. Maybe you would want to film yourself talking about your reactions to being in these different places, and have your quest be the storyline that narrates the movie, or just keep it all atmospheric with no talking at all.
