I was given the great opportunity recently to interview Summer Burkes and (Evolver's own) Natalie Pierce, two activists working in New Orleans right now, on my radio show. We talked about:

* The mood in New Orleans
* BP’s restrictions against press, scientists, and people wanting to help
* Effects of Corexit, the highly toxic dispersant being used
* Ways to demand accountability from BP and the government
* Things people can do to help the Gulf
* Ways to stay positive in the face of catastrophe
* Oil Spill Solidarity Movement in Asheville

I was not able to attach the audio file (Mp3) but you can check it out at the website for my radio show, SystemicEffect.org

Also, if you are interested in the movement in Asheville, NC that is beginning to coalesce around Oil Spill Solidarity, check our FB page out at:

I think we have a worthwhile model here for a movement (although it is just getting started)... we will be doing weekly or semi-weekly events and demonstrations, as a starting point for a movement of change. We will also be sharing information about ways to speak out, ways to help the Gulf and ways to reduce the use of fossil fuels.
