The Sacred Door Trail will establish the first recognized shared sacred land in the world, supported by as many people, faiths and indigenous cultures that care to support such an idea. The land will be the largest alter in the world dedicated to the cultivation of spiritual unity, peace, and our connection to the earth and each other. The trail itself will be a sacred circle traveling approximately two hundred miles and will be a compilation of already existing trails that will be joined together to create the Sacred Door Trail. It will serve to reconnect people to the original church, the original temple---Mother Earth. There will be signs along the trail explaining the intention of the trail, who supports it, and why it is important.
The opening of the trail will be held June 25th-27th 2010. It will be open to the public and involve dedication ceremonies and blessings for the land given by representatives of all the different faiths and indigenous cultures who support it. This project has the support of the American Indian Institute through whom I’m in contact with the most important spiritual leaders in tribal communities throughout North America. In addition, the trail has the full backing of all the tribal communities in Montana. The American Indian Institute, as a 501c3 nonprofit organization, will act as the fiscal sponsor for the project. I am also in contact with the Dalai Lama’s inner circle as well as various other spiritual leaders from America and around the world. The ultimate goal of the project is to have the World Heritage Centre take over the Sacred Door Trail and recognize it as a World Heritage site so it will be forever protected and looked after.
As war, greed, and environmental, political, and religious battles continue to divide us, degrading the human spirit, and placing fear and division into the collective consciousness of humanity, the Sacred Door Trail seeks to imprint the power of spirit, unity, forgiveness, and love into our collective consciousness. It celebrates our rich spiritual diversity as humans and honors the spirit that unifies all things, thereby turning the many into the one---“E Pluribus Unum”, a reflection of the true dream of America and the world. Think about it---the first recognized shared sacred land the planet has ever known. The ramifications are limitless. Just as a butterfly’s wings can cause a hurricane, so can one act of unity and love bring together a whole world. The Sacred Door trail is an altar of hope, and there is nothing more powerful than hope. Through hope we find the strength to forgive. Through hope we find the strength to love. And through hope we find the strength to truly live. I cannot think of a better gift to give to the world.
