Rhizome and Strong Emergence

In his Theory of Power approach to social structure Jeff Vail argues that our new informational structures are giving us an increasingly non-hierarchical overlay.

In his writings he is exploring the idea that the informational structures could give us the ability to transcend the limits of our currently hierarchical-civilised way of deriving complexity and generating tech and other culture; we could defeat the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics through rhizome while living a more sustainable (perhaps permacultural existence). I have also explored similar systems in my studies of consciousness and I have an intuition he could be right. If strong emergence can happen in consciousness creating neural-environmental interfaces as I have observed then it could also happen in the humanity-Gaia interface.
