Groovy Dance Tip from Parashakti - Spring & Renewal

Spring is the time of renewal. It is great to use the following great tip in the spring time so you can really tap into that energy as it is abounding in the earth. You can also, however, use this tip anytime you feel the need to renew yourself or your vision.

I choose any music that I find revitalizing. If it starts out slow then builds in intensity or pace that is even better. Otherwise – I just choose something revitalizing. (See our suggested tracks for spring for more options.)

I start the initial prayer and motion as a seed – which represents the intention with which I am working. So, the movement starts for me in child’s pose. I go deep within myself, and deep into the Earth, into the essence of the Mother, where everything is percolating but not yet ready to be birthed.

So from that place of child’s pose, that physical space of going within, I then physically imagine, in very slow motion of bringing my own roots up from the Earth.

I then use repetitive motions with my hands to raise the energy up from Mother Earth. Very slowly I come onto my knees. I continue to raise that energy and allow that energy from the Earth, the unknown, to continue to rise with my hands (while I stay on my knees.)

I really scan my whole body and see where I have any resistance, tightness, physical pain or discomfort.

With my hands I physically lift all those ailments up past the crown of my head, hoisting them up and releasing them to Father Sky. Then I take the energy of Father Sky and the element of the Sun and with the palms of my hands - I bring the energy from Father Sky all the way down, with a slow motion, to the Mother - so connecting the energies of Mother Earth and Father Sky.

I do that a few times until I feel ready to merge – and come onto my feet. Once I have felt the shift of the merging, and am ready to be on the soles of my feet, I intuitively find the movement that represents the new gate of renewal.

I visualize the energy of walking with new shoes by leaving my old shoes behind and dancing with my new bare feet.

Physically I find new steps and dance with my revitalized feet in a new way. I allow that renewal that is starting from the soles of my feet to express itself throughout my body.

I would recommend to do this for at least five to ten minutes, where you are dancing your own dance of renewal, with everything being in free flow.

As a closing I bring it back to the way that we started. I bring it back to child’s pose and close the circle there as an offering and as a way to ground the energies that had been invoked, released and explored. We end with being brought back to the space of wholeness.

May you be renewed by the Dance. Aho!
