You Are I

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

—Plato

I am the earth. I am the water. I am the air. I am the light.
I am birds. I am seas. I am trees. I am life.
I am feet. I am veins. I am lungs. I am eyes.
I am a lion. A mountain. A mother. A daughter.

I am beauty. I am truth. I am love. I am lies.
I am poor. I am needy. I am you. I am I.
I am a warrior. A beggar. A teacher. A murderer.
I am a slave. I am an artist. I am Bin Laden. I am Obama.

I am joy. I am freedom. I am fear. I am bound.
I am young. I am perfect. I am growing. I am dying.
I am nature. I am the Buddha. I am spirit. I am the Christ.
I am a poet. A loser. A mystic. A liar.

I am the alpha. And omega. The source. And finality.
I am the root. And the fruit. The effect. And the cause.

I am the world. I am giving birth.
I am the cosmos. I am being born.

And it hurts. So be nice.
