Bearded Tooth

Here's the Bearded Tooth I found waiting for me. It was amazingly delicious.

Anyone else a fan of wild edibles?
Let me know.
I love to see pictures of different edibles in their natural environment.

Love that picture.. what a pretty being..

Love your picture... I am always photographing the mushroom family, but I never know if they are edible or not... just that I find them with great personality and living as a family...

Careful

There definitely is danger present when handling wild mushrooms. If you don't know for sure, don't eat it. I recently bought a shitake mushroom patch to grow at my house and I've purchased a guide to wild mushrooms as well. The only way I knew it was edible was its unique structure. There are only three types of mushrooms that look like that and they are all choice edibles.
It is funny, I seem to have this feeling every time I pass by that same tree, as if I'm saying thank you to it for producing that little white ball of deliciousness. I look in the same spot as if hoping that another would spring up in its place. lol
Check out this Hemlock Varnish Shelf mushroom:

Some say it has properties like the famous Ling Chih.
Check this beauty out. They say they're edible but taste terrible. I think it is the Viscid Violet Cort.

This one just looked a little iffy for me to munch on. Again, if you're not absolutely positive of the species you have, don't eat it.
Peace

awesome pics

Love those pictures. One time my son had to cut down a tree that had died, and it had the neatest mushroom growing in it.. I didn't get its picture, but after that was when I began trying to photograph them.. I don't have them organized to know where to look for the pictures, but I have met some lovelies.... The Bearded Tooth is really awesome (almost sounds like a once in a life .. gift) and the violet one, she's just beautiful.

thanks,
